Anyone dreaming of a winter surf holiday? There are few better presents to treat yourself to than a week or two in a hot surfers paradise when it is the middle of winter.  Whether you have had your fill of the holiday season, or just fancy a mid winter break, here are some of our favourite destinations for you to escape to…

  • 1- Lanzarote

The Canary Islands are home to some of the best surf in Europe, especially during the winter months, so it comes as no surprise that they are known as the Hawaii of Europe.  Lanzarote boasts incredible landscape, practically its own microcosm of great weather, and some very good surf.

Become well and truly relaxed by staying next to your surf break by staying at Famara beach, and walking to your surf spot every day.  Make sure you not only try out the local surf spots, but also the local cuisine and wines, as the region is becoming known for its culinary expertise and creativeness.  Perfect reward post surf.

  • 2- Fuerteventura

Incredible volcanic landscapes, waves on every shore, plus 20 degrees C and year round sunshine? Little wonder why surfers have been hibernating the European winter on Fuerteventura’s sunny beaches for decades.  Stay in the north of the island in the town of Corralejo for the best surf accommodation, and explore the incredible north track for intermediate to expert waves or eastern shore for beginner surf beaches.

  • 3- Morocco

Sun drenched Morocco is known for its incredible waves, but still manages to elude those annoying surf crowds.  Head to the surf town of Taghazout, stay in a luxury resort or villa, and enjoy watching the sun set over your surf breaks from your roof top terrace. The town has a prime location having built up around a whole host of right hand surf breaks that will have you salivating to get in the warm waters.

  • 4- Australia

Barely needing any description as to why Australia is a perfect winter holiday destination.  The country is infamous for its sun, surf, and easy going life style… so just take your pick of East or West coast for your surf, and start bulk buying your sun factor. We recommend doing surf road trips along the coast, so you can discover beautiful protected surf beaches that will be ideal for your own surf ability.

  • 5- Hawaii

If you have had a taste of Hawaii through watching the Billabong Pro Pipe Masters online, but have never have been to Hawaii, then you are missing out.  Hawaii is the motherland of surfing, and has some of the best surf breaks in the world… hence the nickname the seven mile miracle that is the north shore of the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

If you can stay on the north shore, either in Haleiwa or even at Turtle Bay, then you are in for a massive treat.  There are countless surf breaks dotted along the coast, so hire a surf guide and explore the incredibly beautiful home of surfing.
