Sometimes we all need to escape from the daily grind and go on an adventure.  Instead of being stuck behind a desk and waiting for someone to come with us on holiday, it is so much better when we just go for it.  One of the best things about going on an adventure holiday as a solo traveller, is that you make so many friends.  So the question is what is stopping you from getting out of your comfort zone, and having some fun trying something new?  If you're stuck for ideas, here are our favourite breaks to inspire you:

  • 1- Surfing

If there is one sport that is always changing, incredibly beautiful to watch and even better to actually do, it is surfing. Nothing compares to getting to your feet on your surfboard, and feeling like you're flying over the water as everything you've learnt comes together.  One of the best ways to try surfing for the first time is with a surf instructor whilst on a surf holiday.  Learning in a group of other beginner surfers in a perfect beginner surf beach location, is one of the easiest ways to start learning to surf... and besides, it is a lot of fun.  If you're wondering where you should go for your first surf holiday, try out Casa Offshore in Lagos, Portugal, as the town and region boasts some of the best weather and waves all year round in Europe.

  • 2- Yoga

Even if you're not the most flexible person in the world, yoga can still be for you.  When so much of our daily lives is spent around fitting everything in, it can be incredibly refreshing to take time out and explore yoga and all its health benefits for our bodies, minds, and spirit.  Yoga is all about getting to know yourself better, giving yourself permission to enjoy your body for exactly what it is, and feel a deeper connection with your life and the world.  Whether you learn yoga basics whilst on holiday or enjoy exploring more about this ancient practice, taking time for you will be incredibly rewarding.  We love the yoga classes at Azul Fit, found at La Concha Surf Bungalows in Fuerteventura, for deep relaxation and making other yoga inspired friends.

  • 3- Underwater Safari

It's hard not to feel inspired when you take a leap and go on a safari.  Being out in wild nature with animals in their natural environment is something that will stay with you for life.  Safaris are usually thought of as being out on the stunning African plains, however there are other alternatives.  Why not be more creative with the idea of a safari by learning to scuba dive. There are countless beautiful dive spots around the world where you can achieve your PADI certification, and then it's all about exploring the incredible world underwater.  Learning to scuba dive is always carried out in groups, so you'll get plenty of chances to meet new people, and will also come away with a new skill to try out on your next holiday.
