  • Las Marismas worked really well, the kids enjoyed the pools and it was only a short walk to a great choice of restaurants in the evenings. Richie did a great job with the surf lessons, which was tricky with a group of mixed abilities. He managed to pick surf spots that had easy white water for the kids but enough of a wave for the improvers to progress. Fuerteventura has been the nicest Canary Island that we have visited. It is much more laid back and relaxed than the more developed islands. The old town of Coralejo has retained its charm despite development around the outskirts in recent years. John & family, Cork

  • The accommodation was excellent, way more than we were expecting, it was ideal for the kids and the kids club was excellent. The surf lessons were  spot on exactly what I needed. The town was lovely, not too far to walk and a nice chilled out feel to it. The only feed back I can think of is maybe putting that the water park is closed in December - James & family, Brighton

  • I'd stayed at Las Marismas 6 years ago and it was as good then as it was this week. Richie had some great suggestions for places to eat and everyplace we went into was great. We're really into our food and were not let down. Everyone on the island seems to know Richie. The only not so great meal we had was on the first night when we just picked the place ourselves. As for the surfing side of it. We were at a few different beaches over the four days of lessons we had. We'd had lessons before but we were brought back to basics and really got a handle on it. There was no pressure so if the kids weren't in the mood or the waves were too big they could have fun on the shore. He never pushed them but would really encourage them along if they were on a roll and if they were on a 'break' he could focus on the adults and older kids. For 3 x 40+year olds, 2 x12 year olds and 2 x 8yr olds to all have equal fun doing the same thing was great. On one of our days off from lessons Richie suggested we go visit the lagoons a few miles away. The kids loved the calm warm water and spent hours snorkelling and checking out the fish underwater. We stopped off at a great restaurant called casa marcos in the middle of nowhere..delicious!! Would really recommend this holiday (especially for winter mid term) plenty sun, fun, exercise and food. We're all refreshed and ready for the winter ahead and looking forward to doing the same thing next year which is amazing cause I would never normally do the same thing in the same place twice - Brenda & family, Cork.

  • The apartment was lovely, bigger than I had hoped for (a 1-bed room with large dining/living space) and staff at hotel were very helpful. enjoyed baku waterpark next door and had some lovely meals out, all in glorious sunshine. Richie and the surf school were great, made it all very easy from collecting us at airport to encouraging our daughter aged 7 to surf, always helpful and organised a meal out at an earlier time to suit our family. We are just back from Strandhill in Sligo and delighted to say I got a few good waves remembering the advice about "the second of sanity"! - Ann-Marie and family, Tipperary

  •  Accommodation was really nice and clean. Very Helpful, I dont normally fill out a comments card at source, but did this time, as I was so happy with the set up. As for the surf, what can I say? Richie is a total professional and really gave his utmost to help us. It was really good fun. Kids did really well and really liked Richie's overall approach.  I was delighted and my kids got an excellent introduction to a new sport!(As did I) No one gave up trying and Richie's committment to working with us was top class. I really can't praise him enough with regard to his approach and general friendliness. Some great photos captured. As for the surrounding area, at the end of the day we spent so much time watching for waves I was told I was blind to our surroundings outside of this!!!! We ate out a couple of times, and got to eat in some nice places, we mainly stayed around the old town.  We ate in also, as with the kids, we were knackered if we were back late, so a good plate of pasta did the job. Overall really good holiday, great start to the kids surfing career!! Thanks for all your help in getting us set up to go - Sharon and family, Dublin

  •  The accommodation was good. Going bed only was definitely the better option rather than include food. Kids loved the pool. Lessonswise Ritchie was very attentive and an excellent teacher. Gave good tips on where to go as well and was welcoming. As for the island, a lot to offer if you are into water activities, otherwise fine - Comhnal, Dublin

  •  It was a great week. Las Marismas was lovely accommadation, really handy for strolling into town. Its pricely to eat in - buffet breakfast (€9) and the drinks in the pool side bar are high - but there's a little supermarket on site which is grand and a supermarket just down the road. They had free pilates and aerobics classes every morning and evening in the gym on site which we made good use of so that was really good. We had to hire the safe and a hairdryer for the week so that was a bit unusual as I thought they'd be included but its not that dear. The surfing was great. Richie is such a nice guy and the instruction was excellent as the group was small (max he takes is 7, but there was only 3 of us). Collected us every morning and was really flexible with the time. Learnt loads. We got to surf different beaches and got to see a bit of the island at the same time. Richie had really great tips on where to eat and go for a few drinks in the evening. He came out with us a couple of nights too which if you were travelling on your own would be really good.  I'd been in the town before on a sun holiday a few years back and saw a much nicer side of it this time round. There are nicer shops and things there now since I was last there and the tips on where to go really helped. I'd definitely go back again as its a very relaxing place with fab beaches and I'd gladly recommend it for anyone looking for a good surf holiday. Pity it was only a week is my only complaint! Dee, Ireland

  •  Fuerte was simply excellent from start to finish. Richie & Dave looked after us really well, even took us out a couple of nights. Richie is an almost surprisingly good instructor! He tailors the lesson for each individual, doesn't seem to miss a thing, and paints you a picture of why solid basics needed, how to do them properly, and how they come together to form the overall experience. I know we had a week with him but even by end of day 1 we both commented on how superior the instruction was compared to some 'lessons' we'd had here in Ireland. The apartment was also excellent (it's rare your hotel/apartment even lives up to expectations, never mind surpass). The food in it I have to say was pretty bad (geared towards all-inclusive from what we saw) but you could get a decent breakfast and the food in the town was also suberb, didn't have a bad meal any night. So, in conclusion, the surf & instruction exceeded expectation, excellent; the apartment was much better than expected; and the town itself (nightlife, food etc.) was also better than we'd hoped for (just stay away from the all-inclusive lunch & dinner!)We hope to get 1 sun-surf hol a year in the future & currently going for the specials on surfholidays.com is the plan! - Aaron & Annie, Galway

  •  We loved it - well placed, great size, good service! What elese could we have hoped for - they even took into account our request for a quiet location! Very happy! Surf lessons were excellent, Richie is a GREAT teacher - we loved the time he spent with us, and his advices were always spot on. We felt secure and came back transformed! We are still not surfers, but hey - we enjoyed every bit of it! The town was the perfect size for us. Not tooo touristic at this time, although obviously quite busy. Full of activities when we wanted to take some time off surfing. We advise going to Da Uli for food! ;-)We enjoyed the live music! - Olivier & Cornelle, UK

  •  We had a lovely time thankyou! Richie was really great and I was impressed with the Feutuventura beaches and surf in general. We were very happy with the whole set-up and the hotel was really nice and new. I'll defintely be looking at surfing holidays again so i'll contact you in the future when we have more holidays planned. - Blair and Michael from Leicestershire

  •  We had a great time in Fuerteventura, really impressed with the accomodation. Such a great price for all that it had to offer. The rooms were gorgoeus, nice and big and had everything we need. Loved the pools, restaurant and tennis courts. Would definitely go back and have recommend it to my friends. I might be onto you again next year :-)Thanks a mill!- Melika, Dublin

  •  We had an absolute ball! Weather was great and the accommodation was fantastic! Apartments were very spacious and were cleaned everyday. Pools were big and very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of restauants to choose from and every one we tried was great especially Citrus Cafe(Great for veggies! Thanks for the reccomendation) which we went to again and again!Night life was great and we enjoyed more then a few glasses of Sangria on the beach front at la Sirena. It was a different vibe to Ericeira which was much more chilled out but we enjoyed both equally! Thanks again for all your help looking forward to booking with you agian soon - Jessica, Dublin

  •  We had a great holiday..the surfing with Richie was great...way smaller groups than the other surf schools, which meant way more one on one coaching time with Richie. We both made great progress and have kept up the surfing since we returned! Fuerte is a great spot with beautiful beaches...it exceeded our expectations. Las Marismas is a lovely resort. The pick up and drop of to the airport was great as well. All in all a great holiday though and we have recommended you to all our friends...thanks for all your help - Eamonn, Limerick

  •  We had a perfect holiday. It was so nice we thought it was a mistake when we arrived the room was massive. We were very pleased. Richie was brilliant. His teaching is great and the locations he brought us to were amazing. We just kept to the three days because we wanted to veg for the rest of the holiday have recommended to people since. We would def book again in the future to your other destinations. - Tracy, Ireland

  •  We had a fantastic time in Fuerta. Sad to be back home :(. Richie and Dave were great, they brought us out and showed us the best spots in town for food and drink. We met up with everyone else doing the surfing at night and made some cool friends and had a great laugh! Richie's surf lessons were excellent. He's really enthusiastic and knowledgeable when it comes to surfing and he made the lesoons really enjoyable! The accommodation was great, very clean, spacious and the people who worked there were very helpful. The town itself was lovely with some really nice spots and the beaches were beautiful! I hope to visit there again soon! Cheers for everything, - Susan, Louth

  •  The accommodation was good and great for the kids.  There is a superb kids play area with sand and a jungle gym and even a dude who will watch your kids.  The kiddie pool is great too.  There were a couple of quirks in that the room had no cleaning equipment or a coffee maker but we managed to get both from the front desk so no drama there.  We had a nice two-bedroom apartment that was quite spacious and comfortable.  The resort itself is maybe a 10-minute walk from town and the local grocery store.  We cooked most nights in the kitchenette.
Overall the trip was great.  Richie is absolutely top notch.  For the most part we were one-on-one with him and he is a fantastic instructor.  Both my wife and I went from riding white water to catching "green" waves in just a few days.  There are other surf schools down there where you will see a few instructors with 15-20 students.  Conversely, we basically had personal instruction on every wave we tried to catch.  His sister also works at a great local bar/restaurant where we joined them for food and drinks one night - even with our 3 year old and 1.5 year old in tow!  Great people.  The surf spot was only about a 15-min drive from Corralejo which made it very convenient and there is an outstanding sandwich shop on the way. Thanks again for another great trip! - Chris and Family, Stuttgart

  •  The accommodation was very good and the facilities excellent. We'd wake up, have a bit of brekkie, go for a swim and then get picked up for surf lessons. The lessons were brilliant, spent all day on the beach surfing and chilling out.  The rooms were really spacious and cleaned everyday - nice to bring a cocktail back and sit out in the balcony.  It was only a short stroll to the mainstreet or we'd grab a a taxi for about 3 euro and head out at night. Will defo be back - Maeve, Lisa, Carla and Vicky - Cork, Ireland

  •  We stayed for a week at Las Marismas, and had a wonderful time. The apartment was perfect, large, clean and spacious, well appointed, with everything you could want for a self catering holiday. I was particularly impressed with the double basins in the marble bathroom! The rooms were cleaned every day, linen and towels changed 3 times in a week. The pools are great, very clean, with a lifeguard, my 4 year was constantly in the pool, and making lots of friends there. There are nice sunlongers, with mattresses, and you can get pool towels from reception which is handy to lighten your luggage! We had breakfast in the restaurant a couple of times, but went self catering is great because there are so many lovely restaurants (great fish by the harbour, and Poco Loco on the main strip is lovely for barbecued food). Taxis are dirt cheap, as is car hire, so it's easy to see more of the island, and the hotel runs a shuttle to the beach. We surfed for 3 of the days and loved it - we sat by the pool for the opther 3 days! All in all, we had a fabulous time, we will go again, and would thoroughly recommend Las Marismas, particularly for families - Treacy Family, Cheshire
