The Hotel Star inn Peniche, is located right in front of Cova da Alfarroba Beach in the middle of Peniche to Baleal bay, one of the best beaches to learn to surf in Portugal, and a few meters from the center of Peniche, is a hotel reference in the Region, for the combination of comfort and quality, in a relaxed environment that invites you to enjoy the many outdoor activities and in direct contact with the sea. Brothers Nuno and Edgar, born in the fishing town of Peniche and surfers from a very early age, opened Special Surf 78 surf school in 2011, that now is a partner of star inn hotel.
We returned to Peniche after pursuing academic training in Sports and Physical Education in Leiria, committed to laying down roots in their birth town, and opened an innovative and high quality surf school, Special Surf 78, an inclusive school for everyone with professional instructors who can cater for a wide variety of needs and any learner. The Special Surf 78 surfschool is based inside the hotel Star Inn Peniche and together we offer packages with surf lessons and hotel accommodation with competitive and very accessible prices.
Location
Peniche is the best location for surfing in Portugal and one of the best locations in Europe; the waves are constant and its countless beaches are versatile, perfectly suited to surfers of every level of ability.
Our exact location is Cova de Alfarroba beach in the middle of Peniche to Baleal bay. The facilities at SPECIAL SURF 78, just a few metres from the beach, offers changing rooms, showers, and lockers, so your surf experience is as accessible and comfortable as possible.
Along this stretch of beach, there are small waves that are perfect for beginners, alongside bigger stronger waves suited to more experienced surfers. That means we can select the best location for our students' different levels of ability, hugely improving the quality of our surfing lessons. That's why we affectionately call this beach “the bay of dreams”.
The beach is sandy, flat, and very long, and there are no rocks, reducing the risk of accidents

If there are 3 people and there is no availability for a triple room, you will stay in a double room with an extra bed for the same price.
If there are 4 people and there is no availability for a triple room, you will be in a double room with two extra beds (Maximum of 2 extra beds per room (sharing a room with 2 adults to in a double room two extra beds can be "cramped", especially if they are grown children. So for these more extreme cases the triple room may work better, or even if they are grown up and the client thinks it would be better to stay in another double room)
If there are 5 people, they can stay in a double and a triple room.

The best thing about the Peniche & Baleal peninsula is that the beaches face both north and south, and are all within a few kilometres of each other. So on nearly all conditions there is surf - it is well known as one of Portugal's most consistent surf destinations and a great place for a Surfing Holiday.
The WSL World Tour comes to Peniche every year in October and is a great time to visit if you want to watch the worlds best surfers such as Kelly Slater, Gabriel Medina & Mick Fanning battle it out to win. Surf everyday while watching the event also.
The areas main surf beach is called Cantinho da Baía, its starts in Peniche and ends up in the area knows as Baleal. The spot is famous for its consistency and for being ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers and is where some of the best Baleal Surf Camps are located. Protected from the bigger swell by the headland makes it’s almost always possible to surf here even when there is big swell hitting the coast. The beach stretches 4kms further west with many spots to surf - a great place to get away from crowds.
On the other side of the Baleal headland is Prainha, another great protected surf spot for beginner and intermediate surfers. And next to this is Lagide , a reef break and one of the best surf spots in Portugal if you have big swell and southerly winds. It's a long perfect left with a shallow reef at low tides - great for intermediate/advanced surfers.
On the other side of Peniche (south) is the area's and arguably Portugal's most famous break Supertubos . It's a powerful wave breaking in very shallow sand bar, advanced/pro surfers only! Other waves such as Molhe Leste, Consolação, Porto Batel and Almagreira are all close by giving every kind of alternative including many uncrowded areas; a great area to explore and Surf Portugal's best waves!
And don't forget you can head south and surf Ericeira - less than an hour's drive away.

- Your balance is due to the property 7 days before arrival. The Property will contact you to collect payment. If you book within this 7 days then the property will contact you shortly after you book to collect the balance.
CANCELLING YOUR BOOKING
- To cancel go to the MyAccount section and log in or register and you can cancel from within your account.
- Your deposit is non refundable but can be used for the same property/surf school within one year of your original booking.
- You can cancels anytime up to 7 days before travelling and you be refunded the balance.
