And finally, Porto it’s only 20 minutes away by train, and the train station 200 meters far from us. This is a great option for combining a beach and surfing vacation with the possibility of exploring a unique city.

The Place

Our surf house in Espinho, a small city by the sea 20 km south of Porto, northern Portugal, is located just 30 mt from the beach and best surf spot. It was built in 1939 and still keeps some of its original features, as its high ceilings, walls and tiles. It was recently renewed to be the perfect destination to make the most of a beach vacation in Portugal, especially surfing lovers, who can recover their power in a cosy place socialize with their fellow mates.

How did you like the accommodation?

     

The surf house was perfectly located. You´ll have the breakfast in a caffé just under the surf house, which is really nice. There are many other restaurants with local food near the surf house. Surf house is nice and clean and you´ll find there everything you need.

How did you like the surf lessons?

     

Our surf lessons were a pleasant experience. There was a good student-teacher ratio so our surf instructor Alechandrei could help every one of us immediately. He was an excellent motivator and he could pass on his love for surfing (so now we love surfing too :D). Beaches were clean and really not overcrowded. Waves were good and if not, we drove by car to another beach.

Espinho has one of the best right-handers in Portugal, but yet not overcrowded. The wave, which is just in front of our house, is very consistent and offers some long walls that could be fun&friendly, or heavy&hollow, depending of the conditions. Espinho and the surfing spots around offer surfing possibilities to every level of surfing, as even in bigger days the inside waves are more forgiven.
