Location

Esmoriz is a traditional fishing village 30 KM south of Oporto and has a relaxed flair. It offers a great variety of consistent and uncrowded surf spots and is the best surf region in north Portugal. Escape the mass crowds and learn to surf in safety and together with people from all around the globe.

Explore the many nearby beaches and surf a break just with your friends. Beside surfing you can also enjoy the local cuisine, take bike tours through the beautiful forest park or visit Oporto and explore its vibrant nightlife with lots of interesting things to see and do. Surfivor is located right at the beach in front of the surf spot and and right next the natural Barrinha lagoon, where you can enjoy peaceful, beautiful nature walks.

For such a small town Esmoriz has a lot to offer, especially during summer months. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from, to suite various budgets and diets. Local bars often have live music on the weekends and the beach bar next to camp has sunset acoustic jams once a week.

The best thing about Esmoriz is its authenticity. This is a proper North Portuguese beach destination with a very warm and friendly vibe.

The Place

Surfivor Surf Camp is located right at the beach and offers accommodation in Private Suites or Shared Dorms.
It's the best location for your surf holidays, your home at the beach with amazing waves right at your doorstep.

Our newly built Beach House right at the beach offers you splendid Private Suites and amazing ocean views. Behind is the Surf Hostel with spacious 4- and 8-person dormitories for travelers on a budget. There is a lovely Sun terrace from where you can also check the surf and admire wonderful sunsets.

An expansive deck and garden area connects the two properties, with lots of space to relax and enjoy meeting other travelers. Surfivor offers large indoor and outdoor dining spaces for shared meals, outdoor games, free bicycles and Yoga & Pilates lessons 2 times per week.

Surf lessons and guiding are run by local and certified professional coaches. The Surf Course runs Monday - Friday and equipment is all available every day. The course progresses through the week and also includes a theory lesson and pop up workshop.

A fresh and nutritious breakfast is served daily in the breakfast room and there is a separate kitchen available for guests. On Monday there is a great Welcome BBQ for all guests. The perfect start to the surf camp week.

At Reception you'll find all the info you need about nearby shops, restaurants and bars; all conveniently located within 5 mins walking range.

How did you like the accommodation?

     

Accommodation very nice but I did have the private room. The facilities (kitchen and bathrooms) were kept in a good and clean condition but with so many using them you did have to wait your turn.
The town was nice although surrounding area was a bit run down and the restaurants were numerous and friendly and always made an effort to speak English.

How did you like the surf lessons?

     

All Fantastic. Friendly efficient and professional. Would recommend this place to anyone. Arrived with my 2 daughters 16 and 14 and were looked after Brilliantly.
Beach close and clean and we had good waves.

Esmoriz is an amazing surfing area with beautiful sandy beaches. You will find quality, uncrowded waves which are suitable for every level of surfer. Our beach front Surf House is comfortable, laid back, and right next to the top surf spots in the region including Cortegaça and Espinho. In case of inclement weather, we also travel to Matosinhos in Porto, one of the best learner breaks in Europe.

Surf Lessons we offer:

Beginner Surf Lessons

Learn to surf with us! Even if you have never stood on a surfboard before, our friendly and qualified coaches will have you surfing in no time. Get direct personal feedback on the beach and in the water: our group lessons are never more than 8 people per coach. Aside from the surf lessons which take place on the beach, we organise two weekly theory sessions at the surf camp.

Intermediate Surf Lessons

Our special intermediate course aims at surfers who want to improve the ability to better select waves and position, pop up faster and on steeper green waves and carve on the wave face. Also learn more about surfboard shapes and their performance, and get advice on board selection. But most of all it will be a week of exploring the best surf spots nearby and get you riding the right waves.
