Surfers paradise with 6 waves to ride on this beach alone! There is a wave for each tide, as well as a wave for all levels of surfers, and all types of surfboards. We are blessed with very consistent swell year round, and are receptive to all the Pacific has to offer. Mainly offshore wind, perfectly defined waves, amazing weather, warm water and always fun waves to surf! Yeewww!!!!
Main Surf Beach: Playa Avellanas
Kids Surf Lessons
We focus on fun and safety in all of our lessons, especially with the kids! Soft top surfboards are used and there is at least one instructor for two children, but usually one to one. The lesson is about 2 hours long and we really enjoy sharing the ocean with the youngsters
Beginner Surf Lessons
Our 2 hour lesson includes surfboard hire for the rest of the day to practice your new found skills. We go over wave and ocean theory, safety, basic surf topics and practice on the beach for 20 minutes to make sure you are comfortable before getting in the ocean
Intermediate Surf Lessons
2 hours including board hire and an instructor who surfs with you and coaches you into the waves. This is about reading the waves and paddling into them yourself
Advanced Surf Lessons
We go surf together for two hours and photograph the session so that we can go over it together later in the casa and analyze your progress
Private Surf Lessons
All of our surf lessons are private. We don't believe in lumping massive groups of people together and invading the line-up at once. If you surf with us you and your group will have our full attention
Surf Guide
Day trips if you have a rental car. We will get you to the right spot on the time and tide
Beach Break
Level: All Levels
Fun A frame peaks that break super consistently over the sandbanks when the tide is med to high. It's a great place to learn to surf and has some awesome shade to take a break and enjoy watching the waves
La Purruja
Level: Advanced
A left hand reef break on the south end of the beach lights up on a big south swell and high tide
River Mouth
Level: Advanced
In front of the mangrove estuary, an awesome A frame reef handles swell and breaks on the mid to low tides. It has long lefts and rights that throw barrel sections and walls for carving. It can get epic when conditions align!
Little Hawaii
Level: Intermediate
Big swells turn on this super fun and playful right hand reef that peels down the beach like a point break. It breaks through all tides on a swell, but low tide has the best form. Great for cruisin' and getting comfortable in heavier waves
Palo Seco
Level: Intermediate
A bowling peak breaking in front of a cool tree that sticks out of the beach. It is a great wave for any type of surfboard and a beautiful place to hangout

The norther Pacific side of Costa Rica is best know for its fun waves rather than epic 10 foot advanced surf!
Air temperature in the north is the same year round 32°C. The seasons are divided in two: dry Season from December to April and wet season from May to November. Dry season is the busiest time for tourism in Costa Rica and they call it their summer.
Tamarindo is a year round surf destinations. The bigger swell season is from April to October. From December to March you tend to get smaller but clean 4 foot waves and is probably the best time to go. Wind is not usually a big factor but as with most places the morning will be best for glassy offshore conditions.
Surf beaches around Tamarindo
The main surf beach in the area is Playa Grande, a very consistent long beautiful beach break for intermediates. La Casita across the estuary is a fast beach break. El Estero is the fast rivermouth, great for longboarder surfers.
Surfing Tamarindo beach itself is great for all levels with Pico Pequeno & Pico Grande for more advanced. Further south is Playa Langosta, rocky underneath the surface and offering fun waves. Playa Avellanas is the most stunning beach in the area and suits all standards. One of Costa Roca's best. Playa Negra further south is an excellent right hand reef break over crystal clear water.
That's just a few of the many ideal surf breaks you can experience when on a surfing vacation in Tamarindo. Come Surf with us...
