Location

In the middle of Joaquina beach, a beautiful long beach with some of the best surf in Brasil, a paradise place which an Ocean full of whales and dolphins!

We have sandboards on site also for use on the Dunes. The Ocean is less then 5 minutes walk from the house.

The Place

A summer house converted into a surf house near the Ocean.

Our house can accommodate up to 18 guests in 2 private rooms and 3 shared rooms, all sharing three bathrooms.

It also has a big garden with a bar and barbecue area, also a place where you can store your boards, wash & dry your wetsuit, relax and barbecue with friends and other guests.

Surf lessons, guiding & equipment is all available on site. Dinner is cooked each day for €15.

How did you like the accommodation?

I loved the vibe at Hostel Casa Terra and it was exactly what I was looking for in a surfing getaway. Diego was absolutely an incredible host and made the experience welcoming, fun and exciting. The place is a few minutes from an incredible laid back beach where you can both surf or just relax. It is also a short walk from restaurants and a close uber away from exciting nightlife.

Great to surf with Diego. It was as fun as it was instructional. Great experience being in the water in different beaches.

How did you like the accommodation?

You have everything you need in the accomendation. It's basic but good. They provide breakfast and you can use the kitchen for self cooking.

For surfing it's the perfect spot just 5 minutes to the beach.

They have restaurants in the center it's probably a 10 minutes walk.

Diego is such a lovely, helpful person.

How did you like the surf lessons?

It was so much fun. Diego as a former professionel knows exactly how to teach and to share his passion with his surf beginners. He was actually the best teacher I've had so for. Additionally he knows everything about the different surf spots in this area.

Surf conditions in Santa Catarina State - Florianopolis

Joaquina

Level: Intermediate

This is the most well to know spot on the island, but surprisingly, sometimes you can get great (and I really mean GREAT waves) with the beach empty, even on weekends (at winter only).
The waves are great, the beach is nice, and there are plenty of other stuff to do (sandboard, girl chasing). It´s always worth a try.

Campeche

Level: Intermediate

he longest wave in the island. Its considered the brazilian jefreys bay. That's way locals call it C to Bay (Capeche's Bay). Absolutely epic with the right conditions. You can ride more than 5 barrels in the same wave. More than 1 minute ride when really perfect.When it works, you won't have time to wavecheck other spots. All Florianópolis's surfers are there.ou can take the ride of your life. But don't drop on in locals or they can make you remember Campeche session forever. :lol:

Praia Mole

Level: All Levels

Holds good size, has lefts and rights, some times barrel, very constant wave! one of the best spots, but also that has a bit of crowd!

Matadeiro

Level: Advanced

The wave is a triangle, great barrels in the begining, fun wall and a good junction. The best left of the State.

Riozinho

Level: Advanced

When Campeche rights are really perfect, the waves end where Riozinho begins. Usually, don't expect anythying else in Riozinho but tubes, tubes and more tubes, to the left and to the right hands.

moçambique

Level: All Levels

It is the biggest beach of Florianópolis, around 13km long. All the way through is sandy bottom. So when you get the beach, you just have to choose one place pumping and have fun. Because of its size, the crowd is not concentraded in one place. You can surf in peace. The waves are really powerfull. Left and rights usually pumping in peaks, with barrals and manouvers. The only problem is it does not offer canal to paddle out. So you better be on rip.

As we pointed out before, the fact that Floripa is an island, it picks up swell coming from all directions. But usually, the place handles best swells from the eastern and southeastern quadrant.

Bigger southerly swells are common in winter, and mellow easterly swells most common in summer. It is said that Floripa has over 90 beaches in total, but the most famous one has to be Joaquina. On the good swells, perfect A-frames break all along the beach, delivering smooth walls and perfect barrels. Because of its fame, the place tends to get overcrowded on weekends.

For the beginners, the best option has to be Praia Mole, producing mellow waves for your first paddle-outs, and with plenty of entertainment on the sand as well.

Even though these first two are probably the best know waves of the city, the gem of this place has to be Campeche. A perfect right-hand point break, breaking through three sections and often compared to the legendary Jeffrey´s Bay in South Africa, but because of its quality, locals can get pretty territorial.
