During the day and especially at night it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop, the nocturnal animals sing their songs and the stream that divides the Algarve and the Alentejo trickles endlessly over the land. You can take great hikes by the river stream and up or down the valley.
Odeceixe Beach is a 1st price winning beach in the huge Natural Park that surrounds it. The beach is great for surfing, body boarding and sunbathing. At the river side the ocean’s waves are cancelled out and harnesses great opportunity for families with smaller kids.
If you want some more movement but not too much you can take a bike, walk or drive to Odeceixe, a little sleepy town but vibrant in summer. Around the area traditionalism is very tangible, agriculture and fishery are one of the main activities. It’s an area where you can still find donkeys ploughing the fields and the fish is served straight from the boat onto your plate.

Besides being in a dwelling full of natural materials you get to enjoy also a 100% eco-friendly holiday experience. The retreat produces its own energy form sun and wind, we source our own water in various ways, we treat our own waste water and we produce a lot of our own food.
The retreat has a bio-dynamic farm which creates great bio-dynamic produce for you to enjoy if you wish and we have lots of homemade products we would like to offer to you. We work with our animals. We love yoga and we have classes on almost every day of the week. Besides surf and yoga, we have lots of other services to offer like massage etc
We recycle glass, plastic, paper, metal and food and because we produce our energy from wind and water we operate with a 100% carbon neutral and create very little waste. This of course is a bonus because you are spending your holiday greener for the same value with no strain on the planet. Of course we ask our workers, visitors & guests to help us realize this and stick to this attitude. We’ll ask you too to attain an ecological attitude.
Last but not least this project is humanitarian in nature which means that the profit of the project is reserved for humanitarian handpicked projects. We aim to support projects from all over the world both financially as with hands on help. That way we can help those who devote their lives to help others (humans or animals in need).

The Alentejo region is a year round destination. Autumn to Spring is the most consistent and summer is great for learning and progressing. It offers endless possibilities for all standards, some hard to get to secrets, others beautiful open beaches! There are some many waves along this 130 km coastline that it is impossible to describe, below are just a few to note and look out for...
The north part of the region starts with Comporta and the beautiful Carvalhal beach. A great beginners beach, which picks up nice swell for the more advanced in the autumn.
Further South past Sines is Sao Torpes, a long white sandy beach with a jetty at the north side which provides nice sheltered waves when the swell gets big. Further south is L-Point , one of the best waves in the region. Porto Covo is a lovely old town with Praia Grande and a few peaks that can provide a mix of beginners waves and awesome left- hand barrels.
The town of Vila Nova de Milfontes has plenty of waves to go around, including the long beach break Malhao, perfect for all levels. Congumelo is the most famous advanced wave in the town and can produce and excellent left hander.
Keep going south and you reach Zuambujeira do Mar, a beautiful sun drenched town and home to Portugal's biggest music festival in the summer, it has a couple of hidden gems as well as a beginner/intermediate beach. Next stop is the hippy town of Odeceixe, and its surrounding empty beaches that include Carriagem, Amoreira and Monte Clerigo. Make sure to give the car a good wash after as you will be going through some good old dusty roads!
