The surf school is located 2 minutes walking distance from the beach. It offers all surf equipment that you may need, a dressing and chill out area, and shower.
With years of experience, RIPAR have developed superior and unique teaching techniques in order to help improving all levels of surfers from beginner to advanced.
For us, the best surfer is the one having most fun! Teaching Surfing since 2001.

- Due to changing tides exact surf lesson start times are not decided until the week of your lesson.
- After you book we will contact you the week of your lesson to tell you your lessons start time.
Kids Surf
The Kid's surf course is for ages from 6 to 14. The Surf courses are given normally from Monday to Friday. Kid's will surf once a day, and each surf session last approximately 2h. Considering safety, sea and weather conditions, kid's under 8 are with a surf instructor at all time.
Beginner Surf
The Surf courses are given normally from Monday to Friday. You will surf twice a day, and each surf session last approximately 2h. So, if you spend your days behind the desk, don't forget to practice some sports before your surfing holidays. Max instructor vs student ratio is 1:8, Certified Surf Instructors, Board and wetsuit for the whole day, Sport insurance.
Advanced Surf
The surf spot and class schedule choice, is made according with the surf instructor's experience, considering safety, sea and weather conditions, participants skills (and sure, variety), splitting groups, whenever it seems convenient, and sending them to different spots that best match the skills of the corresponding group. Surf Guide
Surf with some of the most experience surf riders of West Portugal. Between Lisbon and Nazaré, more than 20 surf spots. Surf guiding includes 3 hours search and riding.
Yoga
Ripar Surf School is combining Surf and Yoga since 2003. Surf and Yoga are two disciplines which complement each other: - Intensifies the experience in surfing and the relation with the ocean, taking the participant in total harmony. - Clear and focus your min - Relax your body - Find your balance - Stretch out your muscles.

Praia Areia Branca
Level: All Levels
Praia da Areia Branca in Peniche is an exposed river break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the east with some shelter here from north winds. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the west. The river break provides left and right handers. Best around low tide when the tide is falling. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Take care of urchins and rocks.

The best thing about the Peniche & Baleal peninsula is that the beaches face both north and south, and are all within a few kilometres of each other. So on nearly all conditions there is surf - it is well known as one of Portugal's most consistent surf destinations and a great place for a Surfing Holiday.
The WSL World Tour comes to Peniche every year in October and is a great time to visit if you want to watch the worlds best surfers such as Kelly Slater, Gabriel Medina & Mick Fanning battle it out to win. Surf everyday while watching the event also.
The areas main surf beach is called Cantinho da Baía, its starts in Peniche and ends up in the area knows as Baleal. The spot is famous for its consistency and for being ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers and is where some of the best Baleal Surf Camps are located. Protected from the bigger swell by the headland makes it’s almost always possible to surf here even when there is big swell hitting the coast. The beach stretches 4kms further west with many spots to surf - a great place to get away from crowds.
On the other side of the Baleal headland is Prainha, another great protected surf spot for beginner and intermediate surfers. And next to this is Lagide , a reef break and one of the best surf spots in Portugal if you have big swell and southerly winds. It's a long perfect left with a shallow reef at low tides - great for intermediate/advanced surfers.
On the other side of Peniche (south) is the area's and arguably Portugal's most famous break Supertubos . It's a powerful wave breaking in very shallow sand bar, advanced/pro surfers only! Other waves such as Molhe Leste, Consolação, Porto Batel and Almagreira are all close by giving every kind of alternative including many uncrowded areas; a great area to explore and Surf Portugal's best waves!
And don't forget you can head south and surf Ericeira - less than an hour's drive away.

- Your deposit is non refundable but can be used for the same property/surf school within one year of your original booking.
What happens if the surf school cancel the Surf Lessons?
In the rare occasion that conditions do not allow for the surf lesson to go ahead you will be given a full refund.
