Location

The camp is located sea front just south of the charming surf town of Ahangama, still pretty local and nestled between the busier spots, Unawatuna and Mirrisa.

Ahangama has a wide range of breaks for both beginners and experienced surfers on your doorstep. From a sandy secluded beach a minute from the villa to the renowned break 'The Rock' 5 minutes north at Kabalanas or the ever popular beach break of Weligama, only 10 minutes to the south.

The Place

Sion Surf Camp has an epic beach front location with a cranking reef break right outside #onthedoorstep, enabling you to check the surf from your private balcony in the morning, no trips down to the beach to check the swell required when staying at Sion!
Coming into our 5th season, we are a well established surf camp offering 3 different packages to suit all, with the focus all on Surf & Yoga.
We have a number of different room options over 2 locations to suit everyones preference and budget, ranging from quad dorm rooms to superior doubles, all ensuite. Our dorm and shared rooms are based at our vibrant beach front camp, which also has a few double rooms, while our superior doubles are tucked away jungle side at our peaceful lagoon, only minutes walk from the main camp.
Our vibrant beach front bar and restaurant is the perfect setting for socializing, meeting new friends, watching the waves with an ice cold Lion beer/signature cocktail/healthy smoothie or a freshly ground coffee.
Our restaurant serves up a wide range of eastern and western dishes with both vegan and gluten free options. Our famous Friday nights BBQs are not be missed, offering the freshest seafood etc cooked right in front you eyes, followed by live music/DJs and bonfire.

How did you like the accommodation?

     

Location was amazing! Beachfront!
There is nothing much about except for afew little shops but hey we're here to surf! ??. Tuktuk is available anytime just right outside the accommodation.

How did you like the surf lessons?

Surf Lessons we offer:

Kids Surf Lessons

We offer kids surf lessons with our instructors who have experience and qualifications working with kids on adventure centres in the UK.
The children are able to surf with their parents as well and we have smaller groups with the kids.

Beginner Surf Lessons

Beginner surf lessons are taken at a wide sandy beach with everything taught from the ground up, literally beginning on the sand with safety, theory and technique. Beginners will learn from riding the white wave to their first green waves and turning. All transport and equipment is included and lessons 1.5 hours, 9am and 3pm except Thursdays and Sunday mornings.

Intermediate Surf Lessons

Intermediate surf lessons are taken at the next level with groups split according to ability and taken to a wider range of breaks including reef and point breaks. All transport and equipment is included and lessons 1.5 hours 9am and 3pm except Thursdays and Sunday mornings.

Private Surf Lessons

Private lessons are also available with transport and equipment included on a daily rate.

Surf Guide

We offer surf guiding on a one to one basis at the break of the day on a daily rate.

Yoga

We offer 10 yoga sessions included on all packages at sunrise and sunset on our rooftop terrace at the tranquil lagoon retreat.
