Location

Arrifana Surf lodge is nestled in the quite village of Vale Da Telha in the Costa Vincenta National Park located less than 5 minutes drive from Arrifana Beach.

We are less than 6 kilometers away from the charming white to washed hillside town of Aljezur. Located on the southwest coast of Portugal, the area receives a consistent year round Atlantic swell, making it one of the best places in the world for surfing. There are lots of lovely white sandy beaches, perfect for beginners, as well as challenging point breaks and reef breaks for the more experienced surfing crowd to be explored.

The Place

A typical Portuguese summer house converted into a surf lodge overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The house can accommodate up to 10 guests in 4 splendid private rooms and 1 large shared room, all sharing three comfortable bathrooms.

We offer shared lounge and kitchen facilities and in the winter we even have a roaring fire to keep you warm and cosy!

The lodge has a large yoga terrace with a plunge pool where you can practice yoga with Lauren in the morning or simply chill on a bean bag and enjoy the view.

Surf lessons & equipment are all included in all our packages.

We always offer a 3 course menu 2 nights a week and 2 evening meals out at fabulous local restaurants. Sunday night is our welcome dinner at the lodge and on Thursday night we offer our famous 3 course BBQ (Braai)! We offer a night out at a typical Portuguese restaurant and 1 night at a local restaurant within walking distance to the lodge. We know how hungry surfers can get after a full day of sun & surf!!

How did you like the accommodation?

     

Arrifana Surf Lodge was like a home away from home, I could not have wished for a better experience!

Sarah, Aldo and their team could not have been more welcoming, and make it clear from the start that you should make yourself comfortable and enjoy the space the house has to offer.

Always clean, with well stocked provisions, drinks and snacks. Dinner is huge and fuels everyone well following the days surfing, and setting everyone up for the next session. All the food is home made and delicious, there is huge care taken to ensure anyone with dietary requirements or allergies are well catered for.

The lodge is situated very close to the beach (5 minute drive/25 minute walk), but far enough away that you can appreciate the peace and quiet and is ideally suited fro both couples and small groups or solo travellers. Communal dinners mean everyone quickly gets to know each other and the group just gets closer as the week goes along.

How did you like the surf lessons?

     

The two beaches that we used were perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers.
Aldo and his team of instructors have very different personalities and ways of explaining/coaching the techniques of surfing. This is excellent as some people take on information in different ways, so to have these different approaches mean that there will always be an instructor that will be able to work well with each guest.
They are positive and helpful, excellent at inspiring confidence and gain as much satisfaction from new surfers standing up and making progress as the guests do themselves.

Private Surf Lessons

A great way to learn to surf!!! One on one surf tuition with our instructor. Private lessons are available any day of the week and run for a duration of two hours. We will arrange with the student to meet our instructor on the beach a 30 minutes before the private lesson begins.Our private surf course includes the following:Private surf tuition (apx 2 hrs) + Use of surfboard, wetsuit & leash

Surf Guide

After a full day of exploring the Algarve you know that when you come home to us there will be a warm meal served and a comfortable bed to sleep in!! We even provide great surf movies and plenty of surfing banter!!

Yoga

Yoga is available from Monday - Friday on our yoga terrace from 08:00 - 09:00. Private classes are also available upon request. Yoga is with Rose Hill from New Zealand
RYA 200 hours, Diploma in Yoga Therapy.
Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Restorative Yoga, Morning Flow, Yoga for surfers, Pranayama and Meditation.
