Kids Surf Lessons
Our location in Peniche makes it easier for you, a surf spot that has good conditions for children and teenager surf lessons with the surf centre based literally a stone throw away from the action!
You can sit and watch the children surfing from our panoramic varanda while enjoying a coffee or a fresh juice - isn't that great?
From May and until end of October lessons at 12:00 (Children only).
Beginner Surf Lessons
As a beginner, our surf course will teach you the basics of surf as a sport. You’re supposed to be able to swim. Even if you’ve never seen the sea before, we guarantee that we will make you stand on a board and be able to surf a wave. That is our commitment and our mission.
Intermediate Surf Lessons
To be part of the intermediate surf course, you’re supposed to have surfed before and to be able to stand on the board on most of your attempts.
At this stage in your progress, you will learn to take the drop when surfing green waves and to descend to the base of the wave. The most important manoeuvre at this stage is to be able to do a bottom turn at the base of the wave.
Advanced Surf Lessons
We will teach you to select the right type of board for you at this stage.
The type of wave on which you will be practising your skills is equally of major importance for your progress. For the intermediate surf course it is also important to learn how to select the right wave to do your first manoeuvres, and thus be able to improve your surfing abilities, are also taken into account.
Private Surf Lessons
Private Lessons can be for all surf levels, Beginners, Intermediates or Advanced surfers.
You'll have an private session with one instructor that will be focus only in you and will try to correct all your mistakes and all of your doubts.
Surf Guide
The guided surf trips are done with one of our surf vans within an area that goes from Santa Cruz beach up the northern beaches of Baleal. Eventually, you can be lucky enough to see the infamous Nazaré beach break working, definitely something unique and worth it to see it live. (Attention, only to see not to surf!)
The trips are led by experienced and qualified surfers who know the region.
Yoga
Yoga is a great complement for surfing and surfing is a great sport to have a go at if you practice yoga. Many surfers practice different yoga styles, maybe not so many yoga fans have tried surfing...
That's why we are organizing a week mixing a bit of YOGA and SURF here at Baleal Surf Camp!!

The best thing about the Peniche & Baleal peninsula is that the beaches face both north and south, and are all within a few kilometres of each other. So on nearly all conditions there is surf - it is well known as one of Portugal's most consistent surf destinations and a great place for a Surfing Holiday.
The WSL World Tour comes to Peniche every year in October and is a great time to visit if you want to watch the worlds best surfers such as Kelly Slater, Gabriel Medina & Mick Fanning battle it out to win. Surf everyday while watching the event also.
The areas main surf beach is called Cantinho da Baía, its starts in Peniche and ends up in the area knows as Baleal. The spot is famous for its consistency and for being ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers and is where some of the best Baleal Surf Camps are located. Protected from the bigger swell by the headland makes it’s almost always possible to surf here even when there is big swell hitting the coast. The beach stretches 4kms further west with many spots to surf - a great place to get away from crowds.
On the other side of the Baleal headland is Prainha, another great protected surf spot for beginner and intermediate surfers. And next to this is Lagide , a reef break and one of the best surf spots in Portugal if you have big swell and southerly winds. It's a long perfect left with a shallow reef at low tides - great for intermediate/advanced surfers.
On the other side of Peniche (south) is the area's and arguably Portugal's most famous break Supertubos . It's a powerful wave breaking in very shallow sand bar, advanced/pro surfers only! Other waves such as Molhe Leste, Consolação, Porto Batel and Almagreira are all close by giving every kind of alternative including many uncrowded areas; a great area to explore and Surf Portugal's best waves!
And don't forget you can head south and surf Ericeira - less than an hour's drive away.
