Goa, once a Portuguese Colony is a predominately Catholic States which means the culture of the place is a little bit more relaxed then the rest of India. The cuisine is filled with seafood and people have been coming to Goa to enjoy the beautiful beaches and warm waters for over forty years now. Goa is know throughout India for its amazing variety of good food and its night life.
Ashwem Beach where Vaayu is located is arguably one of the nicest beaches in North Goa, acting as home to some of the more high end restaurants. Our location and wave conditions make for the perfect place to start your surfing journey. Surf season is dependent on Mother Nature's mood, although it does peak from October through to April. Waves range from waist to head height.
The Vaayu Village weaves together every aspect of our collective interests, creating a space that allows our guests to be fully immersed in the Vaayu experience; interacting with the artists, connecting with the ocean with our instructors, relaxing in the lounge, and having stimulating conversations over delicious food and smoothies. Vaayu hosts a variety of community events every week, so you are never short of something interesting to do.

I stayed at Vaayu for the first time last week and it certainly won't be the last time. I had an incredibly relaxing, happy and enriching time.
The location deserves 10 stars because the river is stunning and this strip of the beach feels so secluded and undiscovered, it was practically private during my afternoon beach naps. The accoms were super comfortable, I loved my room - a hut above the cottages where I had my own private bathroom. Vaayu itself is quirky, green and full of fabulous art. They run an incredible art residency so the artists are always around painting or making beautiful things or hanging out in the beautiful open air rooftop gallery or at their Prana cafe where the menu is super interesting and inspired. Get the quinoa rice bowl, the tequila watermelon cocktail, the banoffee and def drink the coffee! It's open to non-guests too.
Vaayu offers surf, kite surf and SUP rentals and instruction and also runs a fab surf shop for adventure-inclined folks. As part of their ethos, they organise cleanups of the beach and neighbourhood as a way to give back and I was most excited to participate! Would suit conscious folks, surf- or art-enthusiasts, and people who embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Places like Vaayu are a rarity in Goa and just about anywhere else in the world. It manages to bring together so many disparate bits to make the most beautiful whole. From the tangible things...incredible staff who have so many stories to share, and bring so much passion to make their little portion of the world a better place for all living things, the delicious food they serve up Prana Cafe courtesy Chef Varoon Nair (don't leave without spending a little time with him) the airy, colourful decor that's right across from the beach, to the intangible. There's no way to really explain what you can't see but there's a lively, wonderful energy about the place that everybody will love.
Good people attract good things and as a result of the lovely spirit the owners (Rahul & Jill) put into running the place, most of the guests and visitors tend to be incredibly happy, interesting people too so it's basically impossible to have a bad time here.
They also offer surf, kitesurf and SUP lessons and organise regular beach clean-ups and art exhibitions as part of what they do. As such, the place especially suits people who have a clean-living and environmentally-friendly ethos, you'll end up meeting many like-minded people.
The only downside? You probably won't leave to do anything else in Goa because it's just way too perfect at Vaayu. Definitely check it out and stay for a while. Immerse yourself in their ever-growing community and you'll have a new family to call home in Goa when you visit next.
Thank you for all the 'WONDERFUL' times team Vaayu. ;) Sending lots of love your way.
P.s. - my absolute favourite thing about the place are all the dogs they seem to keep adopting and caring for at an alarming but amazing rate. I love you puppy! I'm coming back for you soon. (=
We provide Airport Transfers from and to Dabolim Airport and they can be booked in the booking steps.
