Q: What do you get when you combine crazy aerials, a wave surf pool, the best surfers in the world and 52 cameras?

A: Bullet-time footage of our favourite surfers suspended mid-air from every angle.  Rip Curl's Matrix-esque advert for their Mirage Boardshorts has done what no other has done before... captured the beauty of the aerial and the cutback in HD still-motion.

Filmed at the Sunway Lagoon wave pool in Malaysia, the wave pool enabled the film crew to set up 52 cameras in fixed locations in order to capture the wave and the surfers' moves.  x2 World Champion Mick Fanning, x4 World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, up and coming Owen Wright and Matt Wilkinson all took part in the groundbreaking film.

Normally it would be near impossible to set up a bullet time camera rig to capture a wave at sea, as waves are entirely unpredictable.  However, whereas an ocean wave varies every single time it breaks, the man-made waves of a wave pool are almost identical.  So cameras can be set up in order to capture the wave as it breaks and the surfers mid-motion.

The surfers were towed into the wave on a jet ski, and set about performing their best maneuvers until the shot just captured to perfection.  Wondering what all the fuss was about?  Only one way to find out- take a look for yourself...
