The house consists of four suites with private bathroom but this year we are happy to announce the opening our dormitories with all new facilities, wifi throughout, secure storage lockers and all En to Suite rooms. we have a bunch of other activities and fun insights in to Lagos and the West coast. we even have surf rentals and rides to the beach.
On the ground floor we have our incredible common room with sofas, ottomans, fireplace, pool table, TV and video games for guests to enjoy the house. On the world map, which occupies completely one wall of this division, every visitor can mark its place of origin and leave a message to the next to come.
The dining area is located in the extension of the kitchen with access to the zen garden. Here breakfasts are served and all utensils and equipment are available (refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven, etc.) to cook your own meals. we also get together in the evenings for group family dinners and pool side BBQ's. But there's more! Guests can reap the zen garden herbs that will flavor their cooking. There is also on this floor a service toilet for general use.
Outside there is a pool area with chairs and sun loungers to enjoy the Algarve sun, and a terrace area with barbecue available for those hot summer nights.
Location
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, about 15 minutes walking distance from the centre of the old town.
Nearby, you can find a supermarket, a coffee shop, a restaurant / grill and a private hospital (5 minutes walking distance).
This is the ideal place to rest and relax to the sounds of nature.
The house is just 5 minutes away from Meia Praia beach. This wave is fun to go to because it's a very different wave from the west coast. The beach is about 5Kms long so no need to worry about crowds, the very right handside is probably the best place to be. The south coast tends to have nice waves during the bigger winter swells.
The famous Vicentina coastline is 25 minutes drive, with some of the best surf beaches in Europe as Carrapateira, Praia do Amado and Arrifana.
The west coast is usually bigger than the south coast.
The winter months are fantastic with comfortable water temperatures and sunbathing as well.

Surf Lessons often occur at the areas best and most reliable surf beaches, Praia do Amado and Praia do Amoreira, 20-30 minutes from Lagos. Depending on conditions you may surf at any number of surf beaches nearby such as Maia Praia, Castalejo, Arrifana, Zavial, Cabanas and Porto de Mos. Either way the surf schools will pick you up and take you to the best beaches on the day.
Don't worry if you have no experience whatsoever. The beginner's lessons are taught in waist deep water riding the white water only. You will learn everything from standing techniques to turning and finally paddling outside and learning how to catch ‘green' (unbroken) waves. If you are already experienced the instructors will take you further out and help you develop your technique on bigger waves.
Lagos is a year round surf destination thanks to its position at the corner of the Algarve. It is one of Europe’s best kept secrets and offers waves for beginners, intermediates and expert surfers. It also has the warmest water in Portugal and the winter temperature is warm enough for t-shirts. In the summer the temperature is in the late 20s and stay bright until 10pm.
Within Lagos is the town's long golden sandy beach that seems to go on forever, Meia Praia, a very safe beginners surf beach, but not always reliable.
Further Afield
Head further West and after 20 minutes you arrive at a crossroad, take the turn South West and after a few minutes you reach the laid back surf town of Sagres where you will find breaks such as Tonel, Mareta, Beliche and Zavial. Again different standards are catered for in these beaches that wrap around Cape St.Vincent
Alternatively take the right turn and after 10 minutes you will reach a great beginners /intermediate surf beach Praia do Amado. Close by is one of Portugal’s most beautiful beaches Praia da Bordeira. Further North is the world class surf break in Arrifana and beginners beach Amoreira. The UK's Independent newspaper sums it up best: "Here is one of Europe's undiscovered treasures - thankfully protected by a 120km-long Parque Natural, which helps ensure that "tourist development" mostly means a café in a shack on a beach. It all seems like a fabulous secret, shared only by the intrepid few who make it this far. Their reward? Having miles and miles of these dramatic beaches (almost) to themselves."

How did you like the accommodation?
The accommodation was perfect! The hostel owners are really nice and really want to help you with everything. Rooms are okay and the common rooms (pool outside) and family dinners are awesome!
The town, Lagos, is a nice city, but really touristic. It is a nice to go there for a few days to explore, but you do not need that much time.
The area around Lagos is beautiful! You have awesome views at the sea, with the cliffs and nature. There are many beaches in Lagos and around at the south or even the west coast.
How were the surf lessons?
The surf lessons were great! I did a 5-day surf course and I had two different teachers. It was nice that one of them was really committed and really wanted to help us to do better. And he was there most of the days, so it was nice that he could see my progress and help me every day with new stuff to do better.
