Our hotel is right on the Pacific coast in front of the La Bocana surf break and close to the El Sunzal break. We're the heart of El Tunco, so you’ll be close to all the great activities, food & nightlife that El Tunco is famous for.
Each room has two beds, a private bathroom, a terrace, wifi internet, and TV with cable. Surrounded by gardens, our hotel features an outdoor pool and an onsite bar/restaurant.
Location
El Tunco is a little surf village in El Salvador. It is located 8km west of Puerto La Libertad, 35km from the capital San Salvador and 35km from San Salvador airport. Only a few years ago this place was unknown and quiet, but is now the most visited town of El Salvador to by backpackers and surfers all year long, and by Salvadorians on the weekends for the nightlife. Playa El Tunco, a beautiful black sand beach, is actually the gateway to surf spot La Bocana and El Sunzal, and is a few kilometers away from El Zonte and Punta Roca, 2 other famous surf spots.

Surf Lessons we offer:
Kids Surf Lessons
We offer lessons for kids aged 8-14. Each lesson is 2 hours and include surfboard rental. We ask that the parents are close by. Safety and fun are our main priorities.
Beginner Surf Lessons
We introduce beginners to the sport of surfing in a safe and supportive environment. We start with a 30 min land lesson explaining the fundamentals of popping up, padding, lineup etiquette, and wave reading. Then, we’re in the water helping our students grab their first wave. Lessons are 2-3 hours long and include a surfboard appropriate for the student’s body type and skill level.
Intermediate Surf Lessons
We help intermediates build confidence and improve skills, working on skills like take-offs, bottom turns, cut-backs, wave reading, and, most importantly, gaining independence in the water. Lessons are 2-3 hours long and include a surfboard appropriate for the student’s body type and skill level. Our bilingual instructors are ISA- and Red Cross-certified with 10+ years of experience.
Advanced Surf Lessons
We work with advanced students to refine their skills and fine-tune their technique to they can achieve their goals. We coach advanced students to be more comfortable surfing more advanced/faster/punchier/bigger waves. Our bilingual instructors are ISA- and Red Cross-certified with 10+ years of experience. Lessons are 2-3 hours long and include a surfboard rental (if needed).
Private Surf Lessons
Our bilingual instructors are ISA- and Red Cross-certified with 10+ years of experience. We use the best equipment depending on your ability and we'll help you get to the next level -- whether it's improving your popup, paddle or wave reading. Lessons include board rental, 30 minutes of on-beach theory and 2 hours in the water.
Surf Guide
Our local and experienced guides know exactly when and where to go throughout El Salvador to make sure you have a great and safe time in the water. They have more than 15 years of experience on the El Salvadorean national surfing circuit and have surfed throughout the Americas.

We teach everyone of our surf students, all the theory they need to have an amazing experience in the water and out of the water, basic things like how to popup, having a good standing position on your board.
We will start with a land lesson where you will learn the basics from the sport, we will continue our surf session practice on the water, with your surf instructor helping you out catching your first wave and having as much fun as you can!

The front view hotel was great! i enjoyed the balcony and the sound of the waves was verry relaxing.

Surf Paradise!
I wanted to take a solo surf trip to celebrate my 40th and some achievements. Coming from Canada, I had just one week so I needed something close and easy to get to. El Salvador turned out to be an amazing trip! Thank you Mauricio for a wonderful experience! The surf was rocking and Mauricio is a true local who know his stuff! Amazing food, was really spoiled, Mauricio was a great guide for local cuisine. The beauty of the seaside, the people, the country is something to really see and experience for yourself!

Amazing surf guiding with Mauricio
I contacted Mauricio from surf&travel for a day of surf guiding because I got a bit sick of the super crowded line-up at El sunzal/El tunco. Mauricio took me to 3 different places close to El Tunco and showed me great point breaks with few Peops. I really enjoyed my day session with Mauricio and I definitely recommend other surfers to hit him up and let him show you the amazing breaks of El Salvador--definitely worth the money

How did you like the accommodation?
This was literally a once in a lifetime experience for me
Surf & Trips were more than just surfing for me. I told Mauricio with only 4 days' notice that I wanted to fly down to El Salvador... to propose to my girlfriend! He is incredibly helpful in arranging all the logistics, including airport transfer, beach arrival, and they even hired a surf photographer to take pictures of the proposal and us surfing together! I surprised my girlfriend as she was emerging from the water after a session, and proposed to her right there on the beach with another photographer capturing the moment in photos that we will always cherish. In addition to surfing, we also got to eat great food (they selected an amazing surfside restaurant for celebrating that night) and do fun trips to Joyas de Ceren (preserved 1400 year old Mayan village) and Furesa Animal Refuge (the best zoo I have ever been to, with tons of big cats and no crowds). It was the most efficient, fun three days I could have asked for. Oh, and she said, "Si!"
How were the surf lessons?
Surf and Trips was everything I could imagine for a surf trip - went to multiple surfing sites in Las Flores and in El Tunco, ate at the best places, stayed in a terrific hotel and house, AND got some sweet surf pictures to show people at home!

How did you like the accommodation?
Fantastic Getaway
This was one of the best trips I have taken. Mauricio, is an excellent guide; very personable, fun, understanding and had excellent knowledge of the area (in the water and out). He knew the perfect spots to get a good meal, and I mean GOOD. Some of the highlights included El Viking, Betos, and Picnic.
I often find traveling in central and south America hard as I do not speak Spanish, however Mauricio was such an excellent translator that it made things easy and effortless.
Maurico catered the trip to fit our interests and style which was very much appreciated! He is intuitive to our needs, leading to a stress free, and enjoyable week.
An added bonus of the trip was all the photos they took both in and out of the water. We were able to leave our cameras and phones at the hotel and not stress about losing things for the sake of documentation.
I highly recommend this experience, and would definitely book with them again!

Mauricio was patient in the water with us as he taught us to tackled larger waves. Both him and Mia were at our sides helping us build our confidence on different breaks, providing constructive feedback, and guidance.

Surf and Trips El Salvador made an amazing trip!!
We spent 8 days with Mauricio and Mia the owners of surf and trips El Salvador and had an amazing time! Half of the time was a private tour, half we shared with another couple, both were great. Everything was taken care of for us, from an airport pick up to organizing the transportation to Guatemala for the second half of our trip.
