Thanks for the email, we had a wonderful holiday at the lodges in Ericeira. With the welcome pack and maps the holiday went very smoothly. It was very relaxing from start to finish! We ate out at the Tik Tak restaurant and Tik Tapas two nights each because your recommendation was right! The surf school went great, well organized and yet very relaxed. We had a fantastic holiday in Ericeira, magnificant place. The Eco Lodges were ideal and the surfing was so much fun - Orla, Ireland   

We had a fab time, the lodges are great - we really loved them.  The fellas did some good surfing too.  We're already trying to fix a date to go back next year, so no doubt I'll be in touch again! - Faye, Dublin   

The lodges along with the setting were gorgeous. The town of Ericeira is a lovely place too. Some great bars and restaurants to be found. The surfing was superb. We wouldn't be off the highest standard, but it suited us perfectly - Conor, Dublin   

We had a great time in Ericeira, and the Eco Lodges are fabulous, we really didn't believe they would be so cool!  It's great to see that they are kind to the environment also - Bridgette, Australia   

We all had a brilliant time..the town was perfect, the lodges somehow look better in person then in the photos, and the beaches were just fantastic - Ronan, Ireland   

We had an absolute ball in Ericeira - well probably to be more precise it was the lodges and the other people there that really made it for us - Niamh, Ireland   

The holiday was brilliant, lodges were great, surf was good every day and the instructors were excellent.  Eiriciera is just lovely, I was there when I was a kid and the old town hasn't changed a bit.  We met loads of people in the lodges and had some great bbq nights and sing songs. The only problem is a week just isn't enough.  We will definately be going back - Daragh, Ireland   

The lodges were out of this world and we will be telling everyone about them. A real life commune. Kids and adults alike enjoyed it. The surf was perfect but too good for us beginners so we settled for the beach. Will definitly be heading back there.  Thanks again for all your help - Grainne, Ireland  

The lodges were great! and the surf was awesome, found it hard at first but by the end i was catching some pretty big waves. We found 2 great bars: la luna, and a cocktail bar in the town centre. We had a brill surfing holiday. The lodges were perfect, loved the vibe of the place. Ericeira was beautiful and loved the fact it wasn't very commercialised. The surfing was great craic, I never got the hang of it but my boyfriend managed to stand up a few times! We had a fantastic surf holiday thank you.  The lodges were beautiful in their own little oasis and great for the kids.  The surfing was fantastic – the instructors very good with the kids. They seemed to have loads of good equipment too.  We really liked Ericeria, it was probably quite quiet whilst we were there which was lovely. Overall a great holiday.  Thanks a million. Oh my god, I loved it. I think it was seriously one of the best holidays I've ever had!
The lodges are gorgeous and so peaceful. We got to know everyone in them by the end! Its amazing listening to the birds and frogs...felt like we were in the tropics. Anyway every morning we went surfing at 10 am and I totally became addicted..It’s so much fun. Waves were perfect for us. I felt so revived afterwards and we still had the whole day to do stuff. We usually went back to lodges afterwards, had some lunch and chilled out on the sun loungers...we all usually fell asleep for a couple of hours!! One day we ate in Tobi's place at the beach...food is so good actually and then we sunbathed on the beach...totally blissful! Two of the evenings we had a yoga class with Carla. Oh my god, she is so lovely. Then we'd head out to the town for dinner. I'm afraid we only got as far as Prim and Tik tak!! We went to both places at least twice! It was just so good!! Pedro was so nice. Had the sea bass and steak...to die for. I keep dreaming about them still. All the food is just so fresh and tasty. It was my perfect mix of a perfect holiday...surf, yoga, food, wine and sun....and chilled!!! So good. Have recommended it to everyone I chat to about it! See you soon, Claire – Cork, Ireland

All of us had a ball on our surf holiday in Portugal. The Lodges were perfect, with a bit of everything, from the pool table, the take and replace bar system to the BBQ and swimming pool. Ericea had plenty of gorgeous resturants. Surfing was brilliant and the instructors were REALLY patient. Foz do Lizandro beach was gorgeous. Ericeira was great, and accommodation exactly what we were looking for. Very relaxed place, nice food, nice people and plenty of decent surf, especially the first 3 days - Nick, UK

Apartment was exactly what we needed. Easy to clean, beds made and a fresh towel each day. The receptionists were extremly helpful calling taxis, giving us directions and recommending bars and restaurants. The pool was perfect for the lasy evenings. The surf was fantastic. I have been to Hawaii but I prefered it in Ericeira - Ronan, Ireland

Just got back from a truly super surf holiday. Nuno who gave us the airport transfer then all our surfing lessons was a star and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome get us orientated with the area and with inside knowledge. Lovely restaurants we ate at tiktak which was a very nice restaurant in the centre. We didn't spend much time in the village as we entertained ourselves at the apartment. Accommodation was of a very high quality, very spacious even for 6. 2 nice pools and views of sunsets over the horizon and the sea. Surf was good for beginners - Nuno worked according to tide and waves to try and get us to the best beaches. We had a great time learning and all improved but not quite surfing champs yet. Surfing tutor was very flexible on time of lessons allowing us to plan around accordingly. Thanks for organizing us a BRILLIANT holiday definitely would recommend it to all. Thank you, Sian, UK

Everything was to our liking and we had a very enjoyable time. The guys at the surf school were really great - very hands-on, flexible and made themselves available to us well beyond the simple trip to and from the beach.  By the end we were all good friends.  Perhaps we'll book another trip in the future. Villamar Apartment:
The apartment was gorgeous - the music system is a nice touch, and the balcony is great.  The decor of the apartment was really nice and the kitchen was as good as one from home....not that we spent much time in it!  The books and guides that had been left in the apartment were really useful too.  The shower was probably the best shower I've ever been in!!  After a day at the beach it was really nice to get under such a strong shower and the instant hot water was great - Hannah, Ireland   

Surf was great, I was’nt too great!  I loved the restaurants, Tic Tac being our favourite.  And town was just perfect - Paul, Ireland   

The second you arrive you drop down a gear, very relaxing. Apartment and terrace, far exceeded expectations, and had everything you could possibly need - Aengus,Yvonne, Dublin   

Apt suited all 5 of us no problem. We went body boarding 4/5 days and watched most of the world cup game's in that little cafe on the beach drinking bottle's of super boc for €1.10 how bad..! Steve, Rob, Paddy & Mark, Cork, Ireland   

We had a fab time thanks, apartment was brilliant. really comfortable, fantastic balcony, bbq came in handy! Also must mention Tik Taks which was a great recommendation and the staff were lovely (although I blame them entirely for giving us a taste for Licor Beirao!!) - Helen, Bournemouth   

Back again, great time. Great to see Ericeira in the winter, waves were spectacular. Try the Beth and Boom desert in Furnas Restaurant. It rocks! - Julianne, Dublin   

The self catering apartments are amazing, huge rooms and patio with a barbecue, bring your iPod or laptop to hook up to the soundsystem. We're going back in a few months - Bob, Tralee, Ireland     

Bru's, we had an awesome time in a real cool village, Ericeira. The apartment was much better than I expected, although us SAFFA's found it rather difficult to fit a herd of cattle onto your balcony - Jay, South Africa

We had a great time in Ericiera. The apartment was great, we loved de music system. The surflessons where great, the crew of Na Onda was so friendly. It was so relaxed.  They have the best food in town. We lunched there every day. We also loved the Italian restaurant in the main street. They have good pasta's I can not remember the name. – Monique, Netherlands

   
Vila Gale hotel:    
Thank you so much for organising such a  super trip. We had an absolute ball. Na onda were absolutely brilliant, the lads that were instructing were great fun but also so passionate about the surfing that it was hard not to get as enthusiastic as they were. As we were there for two weeks we ended up doing 10 days of lessons with them. The whole set up was really professional and although at times there seemed to be so many people in the water we always felt safe and knew we were being watched over by them all. The Villa Gale was a fabulous hotel. The hotel amenities were great and if i was going again i would defiantly stay there again, just with only two per room:-) Ericeria was such cool Little town and we found lots of fun even when it was quiet during the week. Tik tak have a new tapas restuarant called tik tapas which i would recommend and also "La Pizza" which is off the main square opposite the surf ericeria shop was Delicious food. All in all we had a ball and i have already given your details to lots of my Friends as i would recommend the trip to almost everyone. Thanks once again and you will defiantly be hearing from me in the future. Louisa

Ya we had a great time.  The town its self was nice and chilled out. Restaurants were beautiful and the price of food and drink was fairly cheap.  Hotel was brilliant, location, facilities and breakfast were perfect. It made the holiday for the girls whom all loved the pool and the views.   The surf school was good. The lads were very helpful and kept a close eye on us all, so the men could relax and not worry about the girls getting into trouble.  All in all we had a great week and would definitely go back.  Ray, Ireland

Great holiday in Ericeira. Great surf, great weather Foz do Lizandro beach is class and the guys at Na Onda were sound. Town is nice. I have never seen a town so clean. Cool little shops around town.The hotel was grand (Villa Gale) - views were amazing.  Diarmuid, Ireland 

We really enjoyed the holiday. Hotel was fantastic, great facilities with lovely pools, food and views over beach and Atlantic. We really liked Ericeria town, Tik Tak was probably the best restaurant, Bamboo Bar for drinks and cocktails and Limpoco restaurant & bar at Lizorade beach is also really good with great views.  The surf was very powerful.  All in all, it was really enjoyable - so thank you.  Imelda, Dublin

We had a fantastic time, the hotel was really nice, thank you for the recommendation on that.  Toby and all the surf instructors really looked after us well, I didn't quite get the hang of the surfing, but i'll keep trying. Ericera is an amazing place, we were just disappointed to be missing the reggae festival there this weekend. The whole surf holiday was really enjoyable and relaxing. Was a great surfing holiday the town had some beautiful restaurants like Pinta & Pedra Dura. The food was reasonably priced. There is plenty of shops which to brows and buy, some gems like Rustica and surfing gear outlets we thought were great. The people are all very helpful. There was one nightclub which was jammers, but good craic and unusual credit card drink buying system. The hotel view, rooms, location, food, staff and hospitality was great. The surfing was very good, the instructor were very helpful and has very good English. Think we will try the surfing again. In all a great holiday and think we would go back to Ericeira again. Yeah I would definitely recommend this place - the apartments are only a few years old and very spacious - the swimming pools are great for a quick wake up in the morning or to lounge about  if taking a day off from the surf!!! - Robyn, Hong Kong 

A great base for surfing the area - if the town's beach isnt working head straight for Sagres area - only 25 minutes in the car, and you have a great choice - Steve, Wales

Apartments were great, got back from surf to chill by the pool for a few -  night life in town never stopped. Check out the Nah Nah Bah for great food and music - Paul, Australia 

Its a nice little town, not too built up, cobble streets with old buildings. Lots of little bars scattered around, it takes a few days to figure it out but you get there. Food and drink was very reasonably priced, best value I've seen in a while. The accommodation is about a 10 min walk down hill to the town or 4 euro in a taxi. Didn't do much walking home! Apartments where nice, well kitted out, kitchen, tv, etc. Pool was clean and the reception was open till 12 and very helpful.  Surfing was great, cant say enough about them. If you missed a day or wanted a day off in the middle you could do that. Its a nice beach with a small cafe. Ended going out a couple of times with the instructors (your female customers might be happy to hear). Standing and turning by the end of the week so we where happy with that. We ended up getting the train from Faro to Lagos €6.15, bargain! There also a short bus from airport to train station €2.
Great option but a reduced service on Sundays. All in all we had a good aul time. Jonathan 


Surf House:
I had a great time. The house was great, really homely and I met lots of great people. The beaches and surf were awesome, great weather too.Lagos has some really nice restaurants especially if you like fish. With so many bars too the nights out were great fun. I'd definetely go back again. Cheers for everything.

Firstly I wanted to thank you for recommending the surf house in Portugal.....we had a fantastic time. The instructors, Dave, Matt and Jaz were really great and the house was so well run. Met some very cool people and had great days in the waves....almost a different beach everyday. Got out to the green waves towards the end too so we were pretty happy with our progress over the week. It was exactly what we were looking for in our surf holiday!! The Tobys were great too - really took care of everyone, making sure we got to have dinner at great places. I honestly don't have a bad word to say about the holiday.....except that it ended too soon! Thanks again, Johanna, Ireland


Vila Gale:
We had a super surfing holiday in Lagos, Portugal. The hotel, Vila Gale Lagos, was superb and had great facilities, all new and great breakfast buffet. The restaurants by the marina were very good (there is a quaint Swiss restaurant and if you like fondue (choc or cheese) I highly recommend it). Loved the surfing and it was an experience finding the beach where the girls had the lessons. We spent 3 days there and the instructors were good and fun. It was nice to move away from the main tourist beaches and the atmosphere there was pure ‘surfers paradise’ (could have been Big Sur!). The surf was great even for the non-surfers who enjoyed playing in the waves! We also went to Marineland which is a real experience. The girls were able to go to the ‘dolphin experience’ where they actually swam with the dolphins! It is a fabulous quality park with great shows and some water rides. Having been at many this one is a good experience and not a rip off once you enter the park.  All in all we had a great time and I will look out for any offer you have running next year. The hotel was great -  and they have a spa there which was good for the muscles after the surfing. Very luxurious for a surfing holiday and suited me as I wanted to relax and unwind as well.The town was about 10-15 minute walk from the hotel (taxi only cost about €3 - €4) - the town had plenty of restaurants and bars (bars didnt get busy until late (after 12)) and drink was cheap so very easy to be unfit for the mornings surfing! Portugal, Peniche
Baleal Beach House
Accommodation was really nice, great outdoor area for sitting around enjoying cold beers and having a bbq in the evening. Beds were grand, plenty of hot water for showers which was great. Didn’t really get in Peniche, spent most time around the beach but had a few restaurants and bars there which was good. Went to a really nice fish restaurant on a headland outside Peniche, can’t remember the name, maybe someone who was there that week knows. The guys in the surf base on the beach were great, really friendly, good boards and suits. Mark, Cork

Couldn't rate the place highly enough. It really is incredible how it caters for all types of surfers  from me an absolute beginner to your full-time surfers. The hostel is fantastic and all of the staff: Marcos, Bruno, Andre and Luis were brilliant. Baleal beach and Peniche are both fantastic places to stay and I will without doubt be booking in again before the end of the summer. It's just brilliant for anyone interested in surfing as if the staff were'nt already great at giving advice the other residents, many of whom had been there for their 3rd visit, were practically surf Guru's for their willingness to give advice.Thanks again. - Niall, Ireland

Had the most amazing time in Peniche it was beautiful the surf was wow even got up on the board a few times!! Was going to even try the super tube!!! What really made the holiday was the people i met and Marcos and crew could not have been nicer guys and for that reason alone i will defo b going back. Holiday was fantastic, completly exhausted after it! Everything was top notch especially the instructors who really pushed you from day one. We never really went into Peniche, mainly because the craic was so good at the surfhouse. Bruno, Marcos are sound guys, helpfull and will go for a beer with you.  Bar de Bruno is good at the weekend, we mainly hit the cocktail bar (about 1km walk), most nights. As a solo traveller I would recommend it, I was surprised by the number of solo travellers there, so I didn't feel out of place. Overall an excellent trip, I'm thinking of heading back out in October for another week, highly recommend surfing to anyone!  Ronan, Donegal

I had a class time, weather was brilliant, accommodation was good. The surfing lessons were hard work with yoga at the start as a warm up, but great fun and great exercise. I meet loads of people and went to six bbq's each night! every night I  ate for a tenner!!! To be honest Ill probably head back in September or October. This has got to be the best balcony in San Sebastian. Ate out on it most nights! Pukas were great with the surf - pity we weren't, only joking…we got quite good at the end - Teresa, Sweden

Stumbling distance to the towns bars, late nights and an early morning surf perfect to fix the head - Shane & Joyce, Dublin

Place was perfect for the 6 of us - in the centre of the oild town which comes alive at night - difficult to remember to go to bed for surf the next day - Sarah, Bristol

Apts were excellent - new and comfy. But the best bit was going in October to surf in a shortie with no one else in the water – Dean & Susie, Swansea 

Zarautz is a really cool beach town, loved the action on the promenade and the Djs at night kept the party going. Very laid back and everything quite accessible. Apartments were nicer than mine back home! - Sue, Dublin   

Apartmenst very relaxing and peacful. The main beach is probably the best intermediate beach I have ever surfed in my life - Toby, Germany

Thanks for your e-mail. Yes we had a super time, the apartment was really modern and a great place to stay. Adur and our instructor Julen were so friendly and helpful in everyway. Zarautz was really nice. We went to San Sebastian one afternoon, we didn't hire a car but found the public transport very good. Hotel Zarautz:   
3 Star hotel that should be more - close to the old town and across from the promenade. Pixos in the restaurants are good fun to pick and choose from. The area is very different from southern Spain, spent a day in San Sebastian aswell and loged it, Thanks - Carol, Ireland
