  • This was our second time staying and we had a great time. We drove and took the ferry which was great . The surf was great and its a great place for snorkelling body surfing and body boarding, the weather was great just the write temperature "not to hot and not to cold" but it did rain for 1 full day, all in all still a great place, we all loved it. P.S. we found the skate park (great) – Richard, Scotland

  • We had a great time in Noja. A nice town full of life. We liked it very much. We went to some restaurants you recommended. The beaches are great. The surf was only for father and son but if we go another time than we will surf also. The waves were sometimes big but they had all lessons and have much fun. Next year we hope to go to Fuerteventura or Portugal. At the trip back home we lost our camera. That is so sad! We will remember only with our mind – Hilde, Destelbergen

  • We enjoyed the surf, and Ris beach is a good one for beginners in most conditions and at most tide levels. The surf zone varies in length depending on the tide, sometimes you can catch a wave some way out and have a good ride into the sand, at other times the space available after catching the wave to get on your feet is limited. In my case, staying up for more than a couple of wobbly seconds would be an achievement. All good fun though. The surf school has quite a large group at times but the instructors are good and they gave individual attention to people in turn. Noja appears to be a very Spanish oriented resort but the instructors spoke English, and they are very friendly. We didn't mount expeditions to other beaches, apart from Trengandin, except on the way back to Santander when we stopped for lunch at Playa de Galizano, about half way back to Santander. It looked good but we didn't surf there. The apartment was in a good location, with just one small road to cross to get to Ris beach. However we were on the third floor at the back. We should have gone with the facing the beach option but also we did not spend much time in the apartment so it was not such a concern. It was clean and in good condition. The kitchen is small and cramped - difficult for more than one person at a time - and has only two hob plates and a microwave, so limits the scope for self catering, The weather was pleasantly mild. We enjoyed the holiday and would consider going again, probably not for a year or two. We also spent several days camping in the Picos de Europa mountains and it made a good combination - Martin, London

  • Thanks for your email and yes Noja is a lovely place and very convenient to Santander airport. The kids and my husband all enjoyed the surfing and the teacher was good and very accommodating.  The location of the apartment was super and for a non surfer like myself there were lovely beach walks and paths which you should use on your web site, in particular the coastal walk from the apartment round to the main square of the town - Angela & Family, Ireland

  • We had a great time in Noja. The area itself is lovely with fantastic beaches. We found the town to be really enjoyable with plenty to do and some really good spots for after-surf drinks!!The weather was really changeable,so we did do a lot of touring. We visited most of the Cantibria region, Bilboa, San Sabastian and even Biarritz! As such we had an amazing time. As regards the surfing, again, it was brilliant. The beach was perfect for beginners. Some days the waves were difficult because of the weather. However, the instruction was highly professional and fun, and allowed us to surf to our capabilities. I loved it so much I bought a board when I got home, so any beaches you can recommend on the east coast or west would be great! The apartments were also great-good location, clean and spacious. We really enjoyed everything about it and found it great value for money. We did make the most of the week with travelling the whole area, so I would recommend that people do that. Thanks for all your help and advice whilst booking. I look forward to booking through you again and would have no hesitation recommending you - Suzanne, Ongar, Dublin

  • Noja is definitely a great spot, especially for beginners and intermediates like we were. We were very lucky with the weather and the surf conditions. During the first week we took lessons with Raoul in English. I think he did a very good job and the lessons were well balanced between warm-up, some theory and surfing. In the second week we rented a board and went in the water by ourselves. Raoul and the team from the surf school were very accomodating and offered us good prices for rental. They also sold us second-hand wetsuits for a very good deal. We loved our accomodation, especially our balcony was awesome since we had a great sea-view and could check out the waves every morning and enjoy sunset in the evenings. I loved the idea of having an apartment as we could individually plan our days. We mostly had lunch at home and also cooked meals for dinners in the evenings quite often. Sometimes we were too tired from surfing, however, so we would just go out in one of the restaurants in Noja within walking distance. We can really recommend El Horreo, which you also have on your list of good restaurants. In this area of Spain, it is definitely an advantage to have a rental car. We could explore the area and checked out some towns line Santona in the evenings and had amazing tapas. We also did trips to Bilbao and San Sebastian when the weather was not so well. I love the Northern part of Spain as I think it is very authentic and not too touristy. Thanks a lot for organizing this great vacation for us, we really enjoyed it and had a great time surfing. We are already thinking of where we can go surfing next summer and will definitely include surfholidays.com in our planning :-) Savina, Switzerland

  • We had a great time in Noja. We had a really nice laid back holiday. My young man loved playing in the waves with his boogie board but wasn't strong enough to start surfing. Next year maybe. The apartment was great and the location right on the beach was superb. The pool was great also. It came as a surprise to me that the town was genuinely spanish and all the better for it. The locals were for the most part very genuinely helpful and welcoming if you made a decent effort at speaking spanish. I meet up with my brother who was holidaying in the area and we went to Pamplona for 2 days of the Fiesta San Fermin. I'd highly recommend it to any of your thrill seeking clients who want to put in a two night side trip to their surf holiday between 6-14 July - Matt & family, Ireland

  • We had a really great week in Noja. The apartment was in such a good location- right beside the beautiful Ris beach, restaurants and supermarket. Our boys loved the surfing and the lessons at the surf school were excellent - thanks to Raoul , the guy who ran the place and their only english speaking instructor! The boys age 10 & 15 also enjoyed the small pool at the apartment. We all enjoyed the body boarding, swimming and walking the beaches in the morning. We rented a car for the week but barely used it but may have used it more if the weather had been bad. We discovered a great bar/ restaurant near the campsite called Halley. It's not much to look at but ask for Ozil the owner and he will cook you the most amazing fresh food anything you want from fish to steak. Ozil has very good english which is an advantage in an area where very little english is spoken- although everyone was very friendly and helpful. There is also a nice market on a Wed morning just beside the apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would go back in a flash - Vanya & family, Ireland

  • The holiday went very well, the whole trip from the drive to Plymouth and ferry and drive to Noja (easy) Accommodation was excellent, surfing lessons went very well, the guys at the surf school are very good, didnt see much of the area but the town and beach were very nice, all and all this holiday was more than we expected and would definitely go again. Thanks, Richard and family, England

  • We had a fantastic time thanks. The accommodation was good. The surf school was excellent the boys loved it. Beaches were amazing.  The town was a very Spanish which was great, but next time I would take my dictionary with me as not many people speak Englilsh all the time. Thanks for your help making this trip a good one - Jenny, UK

  • We had a great time in noja. the accommodation was really spacious and clean and we loved being up on the 3rd floor which had a great terrace.everyone was very nice and friendly. daniel had a really good time surfing, raoul was really nice and he enjoyed the whole experience. we explored the area which is really scenic and we lovedSsantona, we got the ferry from somo to Santander and had a good day there. Trengandin beach was really spectacular. it is a good idea to have some spanish as very few people seem to speak english. Overall we really enjoyed our week in noja but would probably stay not so near the beach again - Marie, Ireland

  • We had a great surf holiday in Spain. The apartment was clean and good. Our terrace was the best of the whole building I think, so super. A pleasant and unexpected thing was that our sheets and towels at one day were changed. The people at the desk/reception don't speak much english, so for someone who's not at all speaking spanish, it is difficult. The beach of Noja is very nice and beautiful and so big. We and our daughters had a wonderfull time being there, one of them met a cute and nice boy in the surfshop, so everyone was happy. - Frank, Belgium

  • Lovely place, apartments were fine and the lads in the school knew their stuff and were very well organised. Overall I would recommend to anyone to book through you. Colm, Cork

  • The apartment and beech location were excellent. It was a four star standard in terms of size, spaciousness, cleanliness and state of décor. Patricia, Dublin

  • We had a great surf holiday. The apartment was lovely – really spacious, and so handy for the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful.  The surfing was tough -  waves much bigger than we’d encountered before in Lahinch / Eniscrone.  The guys in the surf school were dead sound though – Raoul looked after us very well. Highlights were Santillana Del Mar – it’s really beautiful, well worth a visit. The Picos de Europa, we did the hike from Poncebos to Bulnes – absolutely stunning – hard work, but even the teenager thought it was worth it.  Orla, Dublin

  • The area is lovely and the apartment had a great location. Overall we really enjoyed it and will definitely go surfing again - Rachel, Ireland

  • Had a great time in Noja. The whole area was very nice especially the beach. The apartment was very good too - Keith, Ireland

  • We got on very well.  The surfing was great, we were very impressed with the surf school and the area was lovely with fantastic beaches and scenery - Gerard, Ireland

  • The holiday was great, and the people in the apartments were lovely. We spent more time on a beach towel than on a surf board, but that's hardly a complaint - Mark, Ireland

  • The appartments are in a brilliant location and the beach is class. We got great waves 3 of the days, and the other days were pretty good too! The school's great and we had an amazing holiday - Ian, Ireland

  • Loved it, gorgeous beach, apartments great, bit noisy at night for us old foggies but the 17 year olds thought it was fab! Tx for your efficiency and good customer service too! - Anne, UAE

  • We really liked it, Noja is a great place. The apartment location was amazing. All the girls loved it. Have a great reccomendation for restaurants: Ciabogga which is on the same street as the surf school - just a few doors up. Amazing wine and steaks, run by a really cool Cuban guy but can't pronounce or spell for that matter his name! - Anne, Ireland

  • We had a great time at Noja - it really is a beautiful place. We didn't get great weather, although we did have a couple of sunny days. Overall the kids really enjoyed the surfing, and they consider it to be one of their best holidays.  We would certainly recommend it - Billy & Mary, Ireland
