  • We came back from Portugal on the 25th and it already seems like a long and distant dream! Vile Gale was brilliant - tasty breakfasts, great room cleaning service and great size room & bed and lovely view. The pool area was good but we spent more time at Guincho beach. We ate at the Marina most nights, great place to stroll around at night. The highlight was some great octopus! The people were very friendly and the waves were good – Emma and Paul, Clapham

  • We had a BRILLIANT week. Guincho beach was great! had good ole craic surfing with Alex:) Lovely area......we loved the old town.....Went to a lovely fish restaurant down in the sea front.....expensive, but lovely! The hol was def everything we had hoped for. Vila Gale was lovely, especially for a couple I suppose. Spent lots of time at pool area - Faith, Dublin

  • We had a fantastic holiday in Cascais. The people, hotel, pool and food were all lovely and I would recommend to anyone whether surfing or not. We really enjoyed the surf lessons. We went to most of the restaurants in the Marina all of which had good food at a reasonable price. Booking through surf holidays made the whole experience very straight forward and again this simplicity of just showing up and having everthing arranged made the holiday all that more enjoyable – Jane, Cork

  • Cascais was amazing. We had a fabulous holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and especially the pool area. Sitting by the pool in the private gardens was great in the evening. It was grander than we expected - I don't think the photos on the website do it justice - so that was a real bonus. We didn't use the hotel restaurant at all (other than for breakfast, which was a huge hit for the children especially!) as there was a long list of restaurants in the town to work our way through. Our favourites was Lucullus. We also went to the seafood restaurant on Tamariz beach. The evenings in the town were always good fun and the children enjoyed ice creams on the way back to the hotel, whilst David and I found a "locals" cafe for a quick Cointreau or two! We hired a car for the two weeks and got out and about for a few days. We went to Lisbon (Aquarium, cable cars and Freeport Shopping) A great day out - especially the Aqauarium. We also went to Mafra and wondered round the amazing palace, Malvera for the market on Thursday (a real eye opener!), Sintra, which was very disappointing after Mafra (VERY touristy!) and also to Ericeira which we enjoyed. All in all a wonderful holiday with great memories - Elaine, Braunton

  • Great holiday! Stayed in Lisbon for our first night. Great night out in Bairro Alto. Got a taxi down to Cascais the next day. Taxi drivers didn't pay much heed to speed limits over there! Hotel was fab. The views were amazing. Surfing was great craic – loved the beach and the set up at Bar do Guincho – we had a few good nights there too! We went surfing here in Cork last weekend and the instructor said we didn't need anymore lessons so we're all a bit chuffed! All in all a great holiday, I'll be recommending Surfholidays, Vila Gale and Cascais to all my friends! - Deirdre, Cork

  • We had a brilliant holiday in Cascais, such a beautiful place especially out by the beach - not really commercialised which was a nice change. The hotel was lovely the rooms are big. Linens and bathroom were well serviced and always spotless as were all the common areas of the hotel. We really enjoyed the pool area, the location is amazing and gives you the best of both worlds as you can walk down to town or get a quick lift to the beach. We ate in many of the restaurants. The bar beside the hotel was a great spot and had probably the largets beer garden i’ve ever been in. Definitely the time of year we were there was great as there was a feista on so we had the benefit of music in the streets , fire works etc. 4 of the group went surfing and really enjoyed it. Alex picked us up every morning and he was really good with us. Really was a fantastic holiday, we would definitely go back especially for a family holiday as it has something to suit everybody – Rachel, Dublin

  • It was superb from start to finish ( I actually extended my holiday by 3 days). Did some surf lessons at Guincho which was really enjoyable and got to meet other people too. Went to several of the restaurants, Bar do Guincho probably my favourite. The hotel was great and the buffet breakfast! 'll be back for sure - Tom, Cardiff
