Lahinch Surf Lessons

We team up with Ben's Surf Clinic for our lessons. John is one of the first Irish surfers to surf the nearby big wave Aileens. Ben's cater for beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers so please indicate what level you are at when booking. Ben's have a ratio of 1 instructor per 6 students

All lessons will include surf etiquette, water safety, wave forecasting, tides and optimum surf weather conditions.

The surf school and its instructors are fully approved and insured by the Irish Surfing Association.

If you don't want lessons but want to rent equipment there are plenty of surf shops in town that rent out surf gear by the hour/day.

Lahinch Surf

The area around Lahinch, in the West of Ireland, offers a huge selection of surf spots ranging from mellow beginners beaches to epic reefs and points. All our accommodation is just a few minutes walk from Lahinch promenade allowing easy access to the main beginners beach and its excellent left reefs.

A few kms south of Lahinch is Spanish point which has a mellow beach break and some excellent rights. Keep going towards Kilkee and you will find many more spots.

Travel a few kms north and you will find the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. When the conditions are good enough you might see some tow in surfers surfing Ireland’s monster wave “Aileens”. Continue on a few kms north reaching the Burren and you will come across many beautiful beaches including Fanore, another perfect surf spot for beginners.

From Dublin

It’s a 4 hour drive from Dublin with roads improving all the time and new bypasses allowing for a speedier journey. Best thing to do is log on to www.aaireland.ie and type in where your leaving from and ‘Lahinch’ as your destinatioand print out the directions.

Not happy with some of the best surf in Europe?? Well then there is plenty more to do in the area.

Lahinch is located on the west coast of Ireland, northwest of the River Shannon, the longest river in Ireland. The Cliffs of Moher are a 10 minute drive north. The sheer scale of the 6 miles of Limestone cliffs can be experienced along the perfectly safe 5 mile stretch on top. The view from the cliff tops is superb – you can even see the Aran Islands in the distance.

If you like a round of golf the town has one of Ireland’s greatest links golf course in Lahinch Golf Club.

The main street is home to many restaurants and bars. Every night will be a lively one, especially in the summer months with music sessions going until the early hours.

Further north you will find an amazing Karst limestone region called The Burren, which features caves, underground streams and rare alpine flora. The area also has plenty of fascinating archaeological sites, including the 5000-year-old Megalithic tomb Poulnabrone Dolmen.

Charming nearby villages like Doolin, Fanore and Lisdoonvarna are famed for their traditional music sessions. As well as surf there is a great many walks, bike trails and areas to stop for picnics. The area is also one of the areas in Ireland where many of the region's inhabitants still use Gaelic as their everyday language.
