The apartment was really great, loads of space and in a very good location facing the beach. The surf school were brilliant, in particular as Maria arrived with a fractured wrist and they encouraged her to do just what she was comfortable with. The kids are definitely hooked on surfing. The surf school were very good, allowing us to defer our start and provided us with a list of recommended restaurants, all of which proofed to be excellent. John and Michael also tried the sea kayaking on the lake, which they really enjoyed. We enjoyed France as we had never been before - Vera and family, London

We had a great holiday and it all seems very long ago now. The apartment was ideal for us and it was great being in the centre of things. Key pick up with Daniela was very easy and she gave us a nice welcome. Our apartment faced onto the back of the complex and had a great view of the hills in the distance. The surf lessons were great although they got very busy on the public holiday. The surf school were very relaxed and even though I missed one day they were happy enough to let me go along the following day instead. We didnt make it to Biarritz as we spent most time in Capbreton and Hossegor. We only ate once at Ducamp - best seafood i've ever had but not as popular with the kids! They preferred the Pizzaria along the promenade! We had a car and it was quite handy for going to different beaches and an afternoon in Biarritz. All in all we had a great holiday with lovely weather and found it very difficult to come back to reality. Hopefully we will get back soon - Amanda, Galway

Really good holiday. Apartment was very clean and modern. Teenage sons surfed every day and loved it.They were really impressed with the Quick Silver shop and skate park. Got to Biarritz and San Sebastian for a day trip, Sintra, aquarium in Lisbon and palace in Mafra all of which were great - Catherine, Kerry

We loved the place and want to book again for next year. The kids are asking to go back, my 7yr old son says he loves france but also he really loved the apartment, i really liked the area,old fashioned but cool ,nice vibe,smart but relaxed - Audrey, London

We had a great surfing holiday, the apartment was very comfortable and not lacking anything. The surf was a little intimidating for our youngest but he is reaping the benefits since he came back in terms of confidence. The area was lovely and a great base for exploring further afield. Around the corner from the apartment was good food wise and great for service and atmosphere. Even if I was to nitpick I can't think of anything that could have been better. We enjoyed our surf holiday very well. The surf accommodation is really great. The waves in the sea are immense, Seignosse and Le Penon are the best. Bruno at the Surf school is the upper best and his men, especially Damien. We recommend a normal restaurant nearby, just around the corner on the boulevard where they sell take away Pizza too. It is nice to sit there and the food is good. I can not remember the name. The place was lovely in general, and the apartment was great too. Surfed for 4 days straight altogether, would've liked a bit more, a week is not enough! All in all was a good hol, would defo go back, and think the sentiment was the same with the rest of the group - Suzanne, UK

Hossegor Surf Lessons

If you are staying at the Quiksilver Boardriders Surf Camp your surf lessons are included as part of the price. If you stay in the hotel or apartment options you can add the below surf lessons to your package on the extras page within the online booking steps or over the phone.

Surf Trip Surf School provider our lessons on Hossegor's La Sud beach, the best place to start surfing in the area and close to all our accommodation.

The Ecole de Surf is fully licensed by the FFS (French Surfing Federation) with fully qualified instructors who speak English and French and follow all safety standards. Children from the age of 8-12 are catered for in kids classes. We also facilitate families preferring to learn to surf together in the one group.

If you are staying in the Cap Apartments the surf school is a 25 minute walk along the promenade or a 5 min drive. If you are staying in Hossegor you can't miss the school - just off La Sud beach at the base of the Point D'Or apartments

Hossegor Surf

The beaches along the Hossegor and Capbreton coast stretch continuously north and south offering a huge choice of surf for everyone! Capbreton has 7 km of beaches starting at the busy side of town and extending south where sand dunes and pine forest merge gently with the incredible beauty of the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches by the main street are perfect for beginners and intermediate surfing standards

Across the harbour is the famous surf town of Hossegor, where European surfing really took off. The main stretch of beach beside the main promenade is a great place to learn and for those more experienced there's the opportunity to surf the breaks where the Worlds No.1 surfers duke it out every September in the ASP World Championship Tour.

For those who are willing to tackle the big waves there is the legendary La Nord and La Graviere, host to the ASP WCT every year.

The beaches reach Seignosse a few km’s north – here Les Bourdaines is perfect for longboarders, and Le Penon is a real quality beach break that’s a bit quieter and just as much fun. Further south is Biarritz with its classic waves and stunning cliffs. And down by St.Jean de Luz is Belharra, made famous in 2003 when locals shocked the world by riding its 66ft peak!

The towns of Hossegor and Capbreton are beside each other separated only by the pier and Capbreton port.

Hossegor & Capbreton

Architecture here is a mixture of old and new and all very similar to the Basque style with exposed timbers on the facades. Hossegor (pronounced 'Ossegor') beach promenade is called Front de Mer and is where the main night life can be found with open music and parties often taking over the whole promenade - Rock Food and Dick's Sand Bar are the two main hang outs here and during the summer there is a party every night.

Restaurants are in abundance in Hossegor - by the Front de Mer and closer to the town centre. Hossegor main street is a kilometer off the beach. A large picturesque lake surrounded by pine forest separates the beach from the town. A whole day can be spent wandering in and out of all the top surfing brand shops like Quiksilver, Stussy, Ripcurl, Billabong, Roxy – you name it, they are all here. The area also has a golf courses in Hossegor and a water park up in Seignosse

Capbreton's promenade and large pier house a vast array of restaurants serving up delicious food like only the French can!

Biarritz

The World famous town of Biarritz lies just 20 Km’s south. It is a spectacular & luxurious city popular with both tourists and surfers. Biarritz also boasts Cote des Basque - one of the best beginners beaches in France.

The stunning rocky coastline is a great place to visit with its "Hotel du Palais" (Imperial summer residence built by Napoleon III in 1854), its sumptuous Casino on the seafront, its congress halls, its golf courses, its international festivals and the "Grande Plage" (main beach). You can always catch a Rugby game too – Biarritz is the home of the game in France. The club won back-to-back League titles in 2005 and 2006.

San Sebastian

If you have the time visit San Sebastian, less than an hours drive across the French boarder and into Spain – well worth the trip and gives you the opportunity to surf Spain also. It has fantastic surf beaches right in the centre of town and is considered by many to be Spain’s most beautiful city.
