Families can surf together in the same group (lessons start from age 5 but must be accompanied by an adult). The surf school is officially licensed and Insured through the Spanish Surf Federation (FES) and follows all safety standards. You will learn how waves are formed, how weather conditions create the surf and be given the step by step guidance that will have you up and riding the waves on your first day!!
Lanzarote Surf
The best waves occur in the north half of Lanzarote. The Island has consistent year round surf and the constant 22degree plus sunshine means you don't need a thick wetsuit but can use a shortie or even just shorts!
Lessons often occur on the Lanzarote's most reliable surf beach,
Playa de Famara, on the north west coast of the island. A beautiful white sand beach that stretches for 6km and is surrounded by the stunning Famara mountain range. The surf school will also take you to the beaches in the north east of the island in
Arrieta, if conditions are more favourable there.
Don't worry if you have no experience whatsoever. The beginner's lessons are taught in waist deep water riding the white water only. You will be taught everything from standing techniques to learning to turn and finally paddling outside and learning how to catch ‘green' (unbroken) waves.
If you are more expeienced the instructors will take you further out and help you develop your technique on bigger waves. If you are more advanced we will take you to a selection of lefts, rights and to '
El Centro' in nearby
La Santa - a very easy reef break wave perfect at high tide.
The area from Playa de Famara to La Santa has been described by the Stromriders Surf Guide as "one of the best surf locations in Europe!" This stretch of Lanzarote picks up all the north and west swells and contains a mix of surf breaks facing numerous different directions. So no matter what way the wind is blowing there will always be a range of peaks to surf.
Travel around the north of the island and you will find many different breaks including some world class 'lava reefs'. Each September the
ASP World Tour comes to town with the 6 star prime event. The worlds best surfers compete for the €125,000 in prize money.
